Norah Jones Seven YearsSpinning, laughing, dancing to her favorite song A little girl with nothing wrong Is all alone Eyes wide open Always hoping for the sun And she'll sing her song to anyone that comes along Fragile as a leaf in autumn Just fallin' to the ground Without a sound Crooked little smile on her face Tells a tale of grace That's all her own Spinning, laughing, dancing to her favorite song A little girl with nothing wrong And she's all alone IP: Logged |

I HOPE YOU DANCE LYRICSI hope you never lose your sense of wonder, You get your fill to eat but always keep that hunger, May you never take one single breath for granted, God forbid love ever leave you empty handed, I hope you still feel small when you stand beside the ocean, Whenever one door closes I hope one more opens, Promise me that you’ll give faith a fighting chance, And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance. I hope you dance....i hope you dance. I hope you never fear those mountains in the distance, Never settle for the path of least resistance Livin’ might mean takin’ chances but they’re worth takin’, Lovin’ might be a mistake but it’s worth makin’, Don’t let some hell bent heart leave you bitter, When you come close to sellin’ out reconsider, Give the heavens above more than just a passing glance, And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance. I hope you dance....i hope you dance. I hope you dance....i hope you dance. (time is a wheel in constant motion always rolling us along, Tell me who wants to look back on their years and wonder where those years have gone.) I hope you still feel small when you stand beside the ocean, Whenever one door closes I hope one more opens, Promise me that you’ll give faith a fighting chance, And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance. Dance....i hope you dance. I hope you dance....i hope you dance. I hope you dance....i hope you dance.. John Mayer - Daughters LyricsI know a girl She puts the color inside of my world She's just like a maze Where all of the walls all continually change And I've done all I can To stand on her steps with my heart in my hands Now I'm starting to see Maybe it's got nothing to do with me Fathers be good to your daughters Daughters will love like you do Girls become lovers who turn into mothers So mothers be good to your daughters too Oh, you see that skin? It's the same she's been standing in Since the day she saw him walking away Now she's left Cleaning up the mess he made Fathers be good to your daughters Daughters will love like you do Girls become lovers who turn into mothers So mothers be good to your daughters too Boys, you can break You'll find out how much they can take Boys will be strong And boys soldier on But boys would be gone without warmth from A woman's good, good heart On behalf of every man Looking out for every girl You are the god and the weight of her world So fathers be good to your daughters Daughters will love like you do Girls become lovers who turn into mothers So mothers be good to your daughters, too So mothers be good to your daughters, too So mothers be good to your daughters, too IP: Logged |

Gosh, I was reading Oprah magazine a while ago, and she was talking about the 'dance' lyrics.. and I was absolutely moved! Thanks for posting them, I find myself singing it around the house.*It's funny, my daughter looks at me moon-eyed, sighs dramatically, and acts all weepy, batting her eyelshes and being a 'southern belle'. ( She needs acting lessons, she'll surely be a diva!) I love Norah JOnes.. I particularily like 'Sunrise'.:sigh: Oh OH, and John Mayer!!!! Thats a great thought too! IP: Logged |

Eric Clapton Tears In Heaven Would you know my name if I saw you in heaven ? Would you feel the same if I saw you in heaven ? I must be strong and carry on. 'Cause I know I don't belong here in heaven. Would you hold my hand If I saw you in heaven ? I'll find my way through night and day. 'Cause I know I just can't stay here in heaven. Time can bring you down time can bend your knees. Time can break your heart have you begging please. Begging please... Beyond the door there's peace I'm sure. And I know there'll be no more tears in heaven. Would you know my name if I saw you in heaven ? Would you feel the same if I saw you in heaven ? I must be strong and carry on. 'Cause I know I don't belong here in heaven. IP: Logged |

CREED "With Arms Wide Open" Well I just heard the news today It seems my life is going to change I closed my eyes, begin to pray Then tears of joy stream down my face With arms wide open Under the sunlight Welcome to this place I'll show you everything With arms wide open With arms wide open Well I don't know if I'm ready To be the man I have to be I'll take a breath, I'll take her by my side We stand in awe, we've created life With arms wide open Under the sunlight Welcome to this place I'll show you everything With arms wide open Now everything has changed I'll show you love I'll show you everything With arms wide open With arms wide open I'll show you everything ...oh yeah With arms wide open..wide open [Guitar Break] If I had just one wish Only one demand I hope he's not like me I hope he understands That he can take this life And hold it by the hand And he can greet the world With arms wide open... With arms wide open Under the sunlight Welcome to this place I'll show you everything With arms wide open Now everything has changed I'll show you love I'll show you everything With arms wide open With arms wide open I'll show you everything..oh yeah With arms wide open....wide open

THE LIVING YEARSEvery generation Blames the one before And all of their frustrations Come beating on your door I know that I’m a prisoner To all my father held so dear I know that I’m a hostage To all his hopes and fears I just wish I could have told him in the living years Crumpled bits of paper Filled with imperfect thought Stilted conversations I’m afraid that’s all we’ve got You say you just don’t see it He says it’s perfect sense You just can’t get agreement In this present tense We all talk a different language Talking in defence Say it loud, say it clear You can listen as well as you hear It’s too late when we die To admit we don’t see eye to eye So we open up a quarrel Between the present and the past We only sacrifice the future It’s the bitterness that lasts So don’t yield to the fortunes You sometimes see as fate It may have a new perspective On a different day And if you don’t give up, and don’t give in You may just be o.k. Say it loud, say it clear You can listen as well as you hear It’s too late when we die To admit we don’t see eye to eye I wasn’t there that morning When my father passed away I didn’t get to tell him All the things I had to say I think I caught his spirit Later that same year I’m sure I heard his echo In my baby’s new born tears I just wish I could have told him in the living years Say it loud, say it clear You can listen as well as you hear It’s too late when we die To admit we don’t see eye to eye IP: Logged |

Maya, this is a great thread!! Just in time too and, since I will always be ' Daddy's Girl ' , here's one of my favorite's... ' Daddy's Little Girl', Daddy, take me with you, I promise I'll be good. Daddy, this is next time, And Mama said I could.
Sitting in the front seat riding down town, For an ice cream come, I'd wrap him around, My little finger tighter than my baby curls. Hey, you can make a tear go a long, long way, When you're Daddy's little girl. Walking down the aisle, With my eyes on Mr. Right. My bouquet was shaking, But Daddy held on tight. Taking those last steps, Daddy and me, From the child to the woman I'd be. With a diamond on my finger, And my Mama's string of pearls. He gave me away, 'cause I couldn't stay, Daddy's little girl. Well he tightened my bike chain from seven to thirteen. Taught me drive when I was a wild thing. Preached to me "pray", while I made some mistakes, That I wouldn't have made if I'd have done it his way. Now he hugs me when he sees me, We talk about the past. He tries to give me money, I try to give it back. He's a book of advice, more than I need. The love in his eyes is saying to me: "Let me help you while I can, "While I'm still in this world." What'll I do when my daddy's gone, And I'm daddy's little girl? Hey, what'll you do when your daddy's gone? by: Angela Kaset, Kenya Walker, Stan Webb ( c BMI ) ~ geminstone IP: Logged |

My Name Is Jonas - WeezerMy name is jonas! I’m carrying the wheel. Thanks for all you’ve shown us. But this is how we feel. Come sit next to me, pour yourself some tea. Just like grandma made, when we couldn’t find sleep. Things were better then. Once but never again. We’ve all left the den, let me tell you ’bout it. The choo-choo train left right on time. A ticket cost only your mind. The driver said ’hey man, we go all the way.’ Of course we were willing to pay! My name is wepeel ! Got a box full of your toys. They’re fresh out of batteries. But you’re still making noise! making noise! Tell me what to do, Now the tank is dry, now this wheel is flat, and you know what else! Guess what I received in the mail today, Words of deep concern, for my little brother. The building’s not going as he planned... The foreman has injured his hand, The dozer will not clear a path, The driver swears he learned his math ! The workers are going home. Workers are going home. The workers are going home. The workers are going home. Yeah! The workers are going home. The workers are going home. The workers are going home. Yeah yeah yeah! My name is jonas.

Daughter - Pearl JamAlone...listless...breakfast table in an otherwise empty room Young girl...violins...center of her own attention The mother reads aloud child tries to understand it Tries to make her proud The shades go down it's in her head Painted room...can't deny there's something wrong... Don't call me daughter not fit to The picture kept will remind me Don't call me daughter not fit to The picture kept will remind me Don't call me... She holds the hand that holds her down She will...rise above Don't call me daughter, not fit to The picture kept will remind me Don't call me daughter, not fit to be The picture kept will remind me Don't call me... The shades go down The shades go, go, go...

Oh Sister - Neutral Milk HotelOh sister, don't be afraid of me I won't be nailing you down in the nursery Just like the rest of them did With those watery, wandering fingers of spit That were supposed to be glorious and fine. Oh sister won't you believe in me I only wanted to be hard on your family Here with you now in this silly infirmary Your mother makes frantic and drunk calls From Germany all of the time. Oh sister, sweet brown and beulahery And milk from your blisters on your grandmother's jewelry There in the parlor all naked in front of me Watching the lights from the cracks Making archery animal designs. Rose Wallace Goldeline just moves her mouth over anything Fleshy free and flowering with oranges out in the open But don't you waste your sins again She don't need you or won't fnck your friends And you, you're an American, so important boiling over To prove that she must still exist she moves herself about her fist and never ever gives a sh!t about all those words you're wasting again Some pretty bright and bubbly wondrous dream you'd like to kill and clean And claim her as your own But don't you worry All those dainty and dirty emotions just go away and fade out on their own Sister, now that we're grieving Our fingers will falter Our lungs will be leaking All over each other and without even speaking We'll know that it's over and smile and go greeting Whatever comes next And oh sister You're getting married with some angry twister That you'll have to carry home drunk every evening from the cemetery And if he makes it back half alive you can bury him under your sheets And oh sister now that you're leaving I can not imagine there is any meaning forgetting you ever could once had the feeling that made you keep on And pretend you were breathing of all of this world In an age of empty rings I don't want to be your fling I don't even want to know you and Rose Wallace Goldeline don't you ever die on me all the way it goes and flows.
