one of my best friends lost her son ...to death, nicholas greer on 10/8/05 in iraq...i wrote this poem for him, please enjoy...Nicholas
A mother’s heart, it beats for you
The stars in the sky, they shine for you
One more day to hear you laugh
One more day, is all we ask
So brave, so proud, the world now knows
The Nicholas we love, now the heavens host
The Christmas tree beautiful, red, white and blue
Now every year will honor you
Sunny days, summer fun
Memories that we have, can be taken by no one
The boy you were, the man you grew to be
The pride in your mother’s eyes, there for all to see
For our country you did enlist
Our countries safety was high on your list
So many died in New York that fateful day
You went to fight terror and with your life did pay
If we could just see you on one more occasion
And tell you how proud we are of you….our liason
Nicholas, Nicholas such a fine man grown
We will never forget the goodness you have sown
Our finest of sons, we will miss you so
Our deepest fears realized, you had to go
In your mothers heart so precious and close
Pray for her Nicholas, for she misses you the most
