A twinkle of sound from a box,
so haunting, so beautiful.
I remember being a little girl,
wandering around
dancing to that music.
Wanting to be that tiny dancer inside.
Forward, backward, side to side.
Head held high,
hands at a perfect angle.
Sway softly gently to the music,
a bit like the ocean waves.
My grandmother would watch me,
always with a sad smile on her face.
I would smile back and tilt my head,
dancing off into the land of dreams.
A beautiful white dress,
perfect hair, so pretty was I
in my fantasy.
Dancing with an angel
always an angel, no princes for me.
And he was breathe-taking.
The music changes to a choir
of the most amazing voices
to be heard.
And we dance, step to step,
we dance.
Moving slowly then faster,
moving along with the music.
We dance.
And I am in love with it all.
All around me is beauty,
there is no sadness,
it's a truly peaceful place.
And as the music winds down,
so do i, slowing my dance.
The choir fades, my angel disappears
and my grandmother is still there
with that same sad smile on her face.
And I dance...
