this song is dedicated to my most recent break from home.

home

everything
is catching up with me
i awake
to find i'm not at all where i should be
and it feels
i'm getting to the end
and it's hard
to figure out what's real and what's pretend

to break from what we're tied to
god knows how much i've tried to

and i am still inside you
and i am still inside you

i escape
every now and then
and to think
i find myself back here again and again

i used to know who i was
until you came along
i return
to the only place i've ever felt that i belong

to break from what we're tied to
god knows how much i've tried to

and i am still inside you
and i am still inside you

i puzzled over the meaning of these lyrics for a long time, but no more. funny how only certain states of mind can evoke a true understanding of reznor's lyrics.

I'm very glad you're touched by this, Charlotte. I am, too. But I didn't write it; Trent Reznor did.

If you want to see what kind of word-art I create, go to this page. Every finished poem I've ever written, from my first attempt at the age of 14, is there. (You'll see that I'm an infrequent poet; there are only 20 poems in all, I think.) But I have to warn you, some of my early stuff is quite dark, sometimes even angry. Read at your own risk.

blackbeauty, I hope you were laughing WITH me and not AT me...

Paras, I really haven't listened to too many things by Nine Inch Nails, but maybe I should- since I love these lyrics.
I'm daring, so I think I will venture over to your site- MOOHAHA send out search party if I do not return.

paras,
I feel as if I have just taken a journey. I could actually see the metamorphosis of your soul take place through your powerful words.
You may have been hammered around and bent about the edges in those earlier days of anger and darkness, but never defeated. It just adds to your luster now, and How you SHINE. You pulled me in and captured my thoughts.

------------------
May the angel of your higher s-elf, guide you always.

My blushes, Scarlett! I find myself nervously giggling with embarrassment at your eloquent praises; I don't deserve such flattery. But your kindness is appreciated.

My favourite is the "abbreviated understatement"

Lovely.

Oh, GOD BLESS YOU, Pixelpixie!!!

Thank you, thank you, thank you! Of all my poems, that one holds a special place in my heart. I think it's the most clever thing I've ever written... so much said in so few words. But no one has ever commented on it after reading my poetry -- which has always made me just the tiniest bit sad, inside, privately. It has always gone ignored... until now.

You just made my whole night!
