Creating furniture isn't an 'only' it is beautiful, creative, soothing, angles, sensual, hard ( edges) masterful technical and spiritual.
The movement of the grain, the creation from imagining to fruition, the planning, the painstaking steps the result.
Oh how I adore making something with my hands.

My brother has an amazing IQ, creative, my gawd!! In school, he was always above, higher, insightful, all those good grade catch phrases.
He went to chef's school to become a chef. He uses his brain, yet it is beyond 'norm satisfaction', he is soul satisfied.
Lovely writing, just saying is all.....

I agree with you though... to have something you worked hard for, tragically taken away.. I know I'd feel harshly.
I tend to be an optimist with other people, seeing that things happen that are absolutely a part of a greater scope. I can only see it in my life in retrospect, but I embrace synchronicity.
I work with my hands a lot ( who doesn't) with art of varing degrees, and I might have rheumatoid arthritis.. I am waiting on the tests. I can only be hopeful and take each day as it comes, and pray that if I do, it will be tolerable, and managable, not taking away beauty or mobility.
And yes, beauty/aesthetics pops into my picture. I do not want to be disfigured. But I do know that I build my mind enough that I would get through it.
We choose, on many levels, our experiences. Whether we choose it before we come to this incarnation, or with our paths and turns while we're here, everything happens for reasons.
Maybe this man will make amazing works of art. He had the drive to make it in studying law, he had the ambition to follow something inside of him, and he can still channel that positively.
