Ok, I am listing my favourite indian song... Background: This girl is lost at a young age and returns back to her home after becoming a woman. She has faced lot of hurdles in life and even had to prostitute herself for survival. So here goes... quote:
What is this place, friends? Which region is this where, for as far as the eye can see, is dust-storm upon dust-storm? What is this place, friends? To what resting place has life brought me, where I have neither command over joy, nor choice other than sorrow? What is this place, friends? Which region is this? The account(balance) of all my years, life asks from me... This heart of mine will say, so what... it is ashamed of itself... What is this place, friends? Which region is this? Who is calling me from the edge of those reed curtains? Does anyone even remain to me? Are they restless and still sad for me? What is this place, friends? Which region is this? For as far as the eye can see, there is only dust-storm upon dust-storm. What is this place, friends?
Background: Same girl's travails
quote:
Whenever it meets me, why does it seem like a stranger? Why does life daily change to new colors? I've separated from you; to whom now shall it introduce me? Behold life: what color does it show to me now?
Background: Ok this one is about the same girl falling in love with a man and then circumstances seperate them and she meets this man again who is still married. quote:
I did not find what I had been searching for... but on this pretext, I beheld the world... you whom I searched for... I did not disgrace you... I myself recognized the futility. In this fashion, I honored love's custom. In this fashion, I honored love's custom. He whom I searched for... When I began this search, where I ended it, I don't remember. Life, you... Life, I only beheld you in dreams... you for whom I searched. What can I even tell you of my state? The long journey of the years, I saw the long journey of years, all alone... I did not find what I had been searching for... but on this pretext, I beheld the world... that which I had been searching for.
