It's grey, and cold
stone after stone
Roses in one hand
my heart in the other
I'm supposed to do this
I'm supposed to go
But really, I don't want to
I built that bridge
I burned it down
what more is there for me to do?
Angels looking down at me
posing in prayer
it seems their eyes follow
some pitying, some condescending
I couldn't care
I'm in a hurry you see,
I'm in a rush
get in, get out, get it over with.
Does that make me cold and unfeeling
'cause I shed no tears?
I don't want to shed them so I don't.
Do you think I didn't see
'cause I didn't stare you down?
I didn't want to care so I pretended I didn't.
Other's heart break etched in grey rock
and I don't even want to be here.
I don't want this,
not because I don't care,
not because I don't hurt
but because it's final
and I don't want to face reality.
That's the simple truth.
And by being this way,
by denying it all
I don't have to feel
that terror and pain.
I don't have to shed a single tear
over something that to me,
is not real.
It can't be real,
I won't let it be.
So I've frozen myself
I've turned myself into the very stone
that surrounds me as I walk.
Do you think me cold?------------------

 I found this picture on myspace of all places and for some reason it just seemed to fit what I wrote.
