TO THE RELUCTANT VIRGINI am standing out here in the cold
and you wouldn't let me in
while fruitpearls of rain
make tracks against my skin
and soundwaves of pain
crash unheeded in the din
while I forlornly gaze so bold
as desolation walks in Walks in as your strange bedfellow
in the absence of my flesh
you and desolation
caught adrift in a fine wire mesh
moonspirits wail their discontent
as banshees howl their brute caress
sunkissed clouds turn nimbus-black
as desperation bleeds afresh Bleeds afresh within your hardened heart
while the weight of the world tears us apart
I am standing here and you wouldn't let me in
while fruitpearls of rain dance around my skin
So who would keep you company
in this dark cold windy night?
Ah, chastity can be bitter
even though it may be right. ------------------

Hello, Lotusheartone! Thank you for your concern. When I wrote the poem, I took on another persona. It's not about me personally, but I was kinda putting myself in the shoes of someone frustrated with his/her lover's reluctance to consummate the relationship in a deeper way. I wrote it the day after Valentine's, so maybe that's why I got so sentimental. Personally speaking, I've been out of any relationship for such a long time now that I've forgotten how it is to be in one. Meanwhile, time and life are passing me by... ------------------
