Girl of a Thousand Faces

When love and hate mingle so freely in my head,
Without a reason and a rhyme for it all,
I'll take a sugar pill,
It might help me make sense of it,
And raspberry leaf tea's for me

Pa pa pa pa pa pa, pa pa pa pa pa,
The moon's full, and I'm howling too
Got a 'scope full of horrors, a Mutable Grand Cross to bear,
Would you like me to take you there?
(I can be a Gemini in the blink of an eye)
Don't you know what I'm going through,
I'm fully clothed and I don't know who I am

When all your moods could play a symphony
And other people behave so reasonably
Sometimes I can't go to bed
Because of what's inside my head
It's not drugs, it's just multiple personality

Pa pa pa pa pa pa, pa pa pa pa pa,
I'm standing all alone
They ask me, are you X-Men's Mystique,
Or are you somebody else you pretend to be,
Oh, wouldn't you like to know?
(Brain chemistry is so important to me)
You prop me up, but I'm halfway down,
Might be a minute or two before I turn around

Would you rather love and live with
Someone who's always the same
When they've got nothing else to give,
It gets boring, in the main;
I go from good to bad and back again
At a count of one, two, three
And I wonder why everyone's so afraid of me

Oh, I've got Jekyll and Hyde in tow,
The virgin and the wizened crone,
Jane Eyre and Mr. Rochester's wife;
And that's not all, there's more of these
If you'd care to see, or if you please,
You can run, yeah, you can run for your life

Pa pa pa pa pa pa, pa pa pa pa pa,
The moon's full, and I'm howling too
Got a 'scope full of horrors, a Mutable Grand Cross to bear,
Would you like me to take you there?
(I can be a Gemini in the blink of an eye)
Don't you know what I'm going through,
I'm fully clothed and I don't know who I am
You prop me up, but I'm halfway down,
Might be a minute or two before I turn around

Xena, good work! Perhaps you should send in your lyrics, for the contest on American Idol...

Thank you, Lotus! I seem to have had a songwriting glut this week. Words usually elude me, but materialized with comparative ease.

Actually, songwriting is an art in itself...writing song lyrics is a weird hybrid between writing a song and writing poetry. Somehow, I can't write serious poetry, but marrying catchy lyrics to a catchy tune seems to be easier for me - kind of an exercise in sound, rather than simply words, to convey the spirit or meaning.

I'll publicise the song's myspace debut when I have it recorded!!
