By Edgar Allan Poe

"Seldom we find," says Solomon Don Dunce,
"Half an idea in the profoundest sonnet.
Through all the flimsy things we see once
As easily as through a Naples bonnet--
Trash of all trash!--how can a lady don it?
Yet heavier far than your Petrarchan stuff--
Owl-downy nonsense that the faintest puff
Twirls into trunk-paper the while you con it."
And veritably , Sol is right enough.
The general tuckermanities are arrant
Bubbles--ephemeral and so transparent--
But this is, now,--you may depend upon it--
Stable, opaque, immortal--all by dint
Of the dear names that lie concealed within't.

I love Edgar Allan Poe. Many believe he was all doom & gloom but I akways found he had a keen sense of humor and loved riddles.

Enigma
by Edgar Allan Poe

For the Baltimore Visiter

The noblest name in Allegory's page,
The hand that traced inexorable rage;
A pleasing moralist whose page refined,
Displays the deepest knowledge of the mind;
A tender poet of a foreign tongue,
(Indited in the language that he sung.)
A bard of brilliant but unlicensed page
At once the shame and glory of our age,
The prince of harmony and stirling sense,
The ancient dramatist of eminence,
The bard that paints imagination's powers,
And him whose song revives departed hours,
Once more an ancient tragic bard recall,
In boldness of design surpassing all.
These names when rightly read, a name [make] known
Which gathers all their glories in its own.

Enigma is a nickname I have been called by several for decades.
I adore Poe also!

It was years later when I came across the works of Thomas O. Mabbott who supplied the elusive names Poe "hinted" at.

These names when rightly read, a name [make] known
Which gathers all their glories in its own.

line - author:
1 - Spenser
2 - Homer
3-4 - Aristotle
5-6 - Kallimachos
7-8 - Shelley
9 - Alexander Pope
10 - Euripides
11 - Mark Akenside
12 - Samuel Rogers
13-14 - Euripides
15-16 - William Shakespeare

Poe was certainly very well read

Oh Juni, we are on a wave length, hehe

The iron tongue of midnight hath told twelve;
Lovers to bed; 'tis almost fairy time.

A Midsummer Night's Dream

I think you mean me Lotus--
Stop being paranoid, Lotus..
I am not Randall; I'm not Mannu nor Zala is my mother.
I am Magical Stone, Enigma, and Silver Stone in 3 different sites, it is not a secret and you know that. I collect stones and crystals and that is why I chose Silver and Magical Stone. When I was in high school my friends use to call me Enigma; that was my nickname when I was in a party cru. I've posted many poems by Edgar Allan Poe, as well here.

Between the woods and frozen lake
The darkest evening of the year....
The only other sound's the sweep
Of easy wind and downy flake.

The woods are lovely, dark, and deep,
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep. ~Robert Frost

Silverstone,

You are very defensive, and since you want to throw stones(since you collect them) Everyone should know, that for over the past year, you have called me everyday, and made mistakes in things you have said, such as about this site!

I'm in no mood for a vendetta, but you are stoking the Fire. ...

No, I am simply telling the truth.

I am not defensive, I simply do not like manipulations.

Grow up, Lotus

And you mean "Good night" not "Ggod night" you ding-dong.

Happy Mothers Day.
