15 years starting in November, this month's energy is a preview. It's important to channel the energy in a way that serves. Art would be one good way.

*Pluto in Capricorn*
A glimpse of powerful changes ahead

"What if you could know in advance about profound changes headed your way that will transform your life? Would you take some steps to prepare for them? Well, Pluto is about to present a preview. Starting on January 25, 2008, after 12 years in Sagittarius, the planet of power and transformation will take a short five-month jaunt through Capricorn, until it turns retrograde and moves back into Sag on June 15, 2008.

The next 25 years...
This five-month window into the future can give you a glimpse of how your life is likely to be transformed and empowered over the next 15 years, because that's how long Pluto will stay in Capricorn after it transits back into that sign in November. So how do you prepare for this cosmic shift? First, we'll take a look at how Pluto works. Then we'll get more specific about how Pluto in Capricorn will influence each sign.

Self-knowledge is the key
If you're aware of where you need to be in life, and what changes you need to make to get there, Pluto can heighten that awareness by purging your life of attitudes, material possessions and people holding you back from fulfilling your destiny. Pluto is seldom gentle, so get ready to face up to reality and let go of what you don't need. On the other hand, if you're in the dark about your direction because you don't examine your inner life, Pluto will cast off your blinders by making you face the real you.

Charts matter
Just how it will do that depends on where Capricorn resides in your chart, and if Pluto is aspecting (influencing) your Sun, Moon or planets. For instance, if Pluto enters your Capricorn-ruled 7th house of marriage, your union will undergo a transformation that will either deepen your connection to your mate or, if you need to part ways, dissolve the marriage altogether. If you're single, Pluto will transform your attitudes about marriage so you can attract your true partner. The same can happen if Pluto aspects your Venus. It's all about eliminating the junk so you can be more authentic and live your true path.

Earth signs: Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn
Earth signs will have their personal power and spiritual life transformed and empowered by Pluto in Capricorn. For Taurus, Pluto will transform your ability to see the bigger picture of your life, so you can live your true destiny. It will also empower your faith and your ability to manifest your aspirations. For Virgo, Pluto will empower your creativity by helping you focus on projects close to your heart. Speaking of heart, Pluto will also eliminate negative attitudes (and people) pertaining to your love life so you can manifest a deeper love connection. And if you have children, your connection to your kids will be transformed as well. For Capricorn, Pluto will have a profound affect on how you see yourself and your role in the world. The urge to transform your appearance - and how you appear to others - will be intense. Most important, your personal power will be strengthened so you can live your destiny more fully.

Water signs: Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces
Water signs will have their relationships and communications transformed and empowered by Pluto in Capricorn. For Cancer, Pluto will transform your attitudes about marriage, and how you use your personal power in relationships. If you're in a union, Pluto will transform how you relate to each other and deepen your tie - or help you cut the connection if you're wrong for each other. Watch out for power struggles along the way. For Scorpio, Pluto will heighten your influence through words by transforming how you communicate. Your words will have power, so be careful how you use them. Pluto will also transform your relationships to your siblings and perhaps your neighbors as well. For Pisces, Pluto will transform your friendships, eliminating negative people and bringing in influential friends who can assist you. Participating in group activities will challenge - and eventually heighten - your personal power. Pluto will also transform your ideals.

Air signs: Gemini, Libra, Aquarius
Air signs will have their inner life transformed and empowered during Pluto in Capricorn, a great time for meditation and therapy. For Gemini, Pluto will transform your sex life by helping you tear down emotional walls you've erected to keep you safe. Being vulnerable enough to embrace true intimacy will be the challenge. For Aquarius, Pluto will also transform your finances by urging you to eliminate debt and it will help you come up with new ways to create income. For Libra, Pluto will transform your relationships with family members and help you eliminate negative family patterns learned in childhood. You may also get the urge to remodel or redecorate your home.

Fire signs: Aries, Leo, Sagittarius
Fire signs will have their career and finances transformed and empowered by Pluto in Capricorn. For Aries, Pluto will transform your career goals and heighten your influence at work. The challenge will be finding a balance between taking control of your projects and cooperating with others. For Leo, Pluto will transform your daily work routine, empowering your work by making you more creative and efficient. Pluto can also transform your health by helping you devise a diet and exercise makeover. For Sagittarius, Pluto will transform your relationship with money by eliminating negative attitudes about prosperity. Embracing an attitude of deserving abundance will empower your earning ability."

Pluto, Capricorn and Initiation

The planet of power entering the sign of power and initiation for the next 17 years (until 2023-4), will see Humanity go through a major planetary crisis. The 250 year (Phoenix) cycle of Pluto in Capricorn carries the great danger of power hungry tyrants that want to rule and take over the world, versus an awakening Humanity, who through the power of transformation, have the opportunity to reclaim their lost power and walk through the purifying fires of initiation.

This planetary crisis represents the culmination of many lesser crises that have been slowly building through Pluto’s transit in the previous sign of Sagittarius - particularly in the field of fundamentalist religions.

Sagittarius represents the ideas that are wrestled from the mind of god and expressed through the highest human ideals. Pluto’s transit through this sign has brought about a great regeneration and rearrangement of ideas and philosophical thought whilst conspicuously intensifying a rigid adherence to old religious traditions.

The arrow of Sagittarius that has pierced and precipitated the higher fiery clouds of thought now returns to imbed itself into the earth of Capricorn. Capricorn’s work now is to take what has transpired, codifying and consolidating it into new ethics and principles (laws), that can be followed within the social milieu.

Both Pluto and Capricorn are closely related to the theme of initiation, the expanding degrees of awareness that are achieved over many lifetimes. Pluto rules the first ray of will or power and Capricorn expresses this ray very potently.

Pluto is the Lord of the Underworld, symbol of the unredeemed psyche and the burning ground of the candidate who must run the gauntlet of testings for initiation:

”Two of the other non-sacred planets—Mars and Pluto—function in connection with the sacral centre (Mars) and the solar plexus (Pluto). This latter planet becomes active in the life of the man who is "becoming alive in the higher sense, his lower nature passes into the smoke and darkness of Pluto, who governs the lesser burning ground, in order that the man may live in truth in the higher land of light." [1]

Capricorn is symbolized by the northern hemisphere winter solstice, the darkest time of the year – where spirit finds its deepest incarnation into matter. Pluto represents the underworld (the unconscious) whilst Capricorn is the mountaintop of spiritual (or material) achievement, hence Pluto’s ingress into Capricorn brings these two poles together, dragging that which lays submerged into the light of day. Ultimately Pluto resurrects the ‘slain self’ upon the single horn of the unicorn at the mountain summit. The unicorn is the transformed goat of Capricorn where the duality of heaven and hell is transcended and all that remains is ‘is-ness’ or ‘being’:

”… the Scapegoat, in the wilderness, redeems … the sacred Goat that merges in the Unicorn and lifts impaled upon his golden horn the vanquished form—in these the mystery lies hid." [2]

Pluto is the Lord of Death whilst Capricorn is a sign of death. The tenth sign represents perfection and the mountain summit symbolizes the end of the journey or completion. Capricorn also represents crystallization and Pluto is its destroying agent. In this immanent cycle, Humanity will probably see the best and worst outcomes of the various expressions of Pluto in Capricorn:

‘Underworld’ further revealed in its vileness.
Recognition of the role of the unconscious.

Deeply entrenched fundamentalism.
The smashing of fundamentalism.

Fight for resources like oil and manipulation of governments by secretive cartels.
Breaking old patterns around addiction to one form of energy, exposure of corruption.

Destruction of material values leading to stockmarket crashes around the world, recession, economic depression.
Fairer redistribution of resources after a ‘level playing field’ has been created economically. A new world monetary system established.

The fear of death used to manipulate the masses.
Revelation around the theme of death being a transformation to another state.

Abuse of power by nations or races on the 1st ray or Capricorn line.
Political will that empowers the populace, creating new liberating laws.

Inversion of the Shamballa force (Agharti) used by the forces of darkness.
Greater awareness of the force of Shamballa directing the ‘will of God’ upon the planet.

Failure to recognise opportunity to submit to the testings of initiation.
Large proportion of Humanity achieve varying levels of initiation upon the mountaintop.

The rise of dictators, lust for power.

The Pluto ingress chart has been set for New York as it is a major planetary centre for the Western nations. There are three such charts for the ingress as Pluto goes retrograde and direct throughout 2008. However the first ingress gives some of the best indications.

Pluto, the Cusp of the Aquarian Age and the USA

The cusp of any astrological age is around 500 years and two of Pluto’s complete orbits of 248 years each, corresponds to this figure. The cusp of the Age of Aquarius started around the time of the American and French revolutions, the discovery of Uranus and the dawn of the Industrial Age in the late 1700’s.

Pluto’s ingress into Capricorn was in 1762, a period that saw a lot of dissatisfaction brewing between America and Britain, finally culminating in the Declaration of Independence in 1776. Britain tried to discipline its American child and found that it had grown into an independent adolescent that was not fond of taking orders and more capable of governing itself. At the signing of the Declaration of Independence, transiting Pluto was conjunct Benjamin Franklin’s Sun (in Capricorn) and Jefferson’s Uranus.

Much of the dissatisfaction then was over taxes, money, power and control and there is no reason why the same themes will not predominate in this current cycle; it might now be the rest of the world seeking to escape from the USA’s control!

Transiting Pluto played a critical role in destroying the values of the old world, leaving its mark in the USA horoscope: Pluto in Capricorn; hence this nation will be going through its first ‘Pluto return’ relatively soon, in 2022. Pluto opposes Mercury in the USA chart:

”Mercury opposite Pluto can make for a very persuasive argument and at its extreme, bring much force and pressure on others to conform.

One of the worst traits of Pluto in the second house is the enormous financial institutions and corporations that have selfishly cornered much of the nation’s wealth, with the Cancerian tendency to hoard and hold onto. This intense materialisation inherent in the Capricorn -Cancer axis is a major challenge for this nation to transcend. It is what makes America hated and envied by some foreign nations and religious traditions.

On the other hand, Mercury opposite Pluto can give great insight and probing into the unseen and subtle realms, hence an ideal aspect for those pioneering the intuitive sciences.” [3]

Pluto Ingress Chart: Stellium of Planets in Aquarius

Therefore, just as Pluto’s transit through Capricorn in the 1700’s led to revolution, the same could occur again in this cycle - the world is overdue for it. The sign and planet most intimately associated with revolution is Aquarius and Uranus.

In the Capricorn ingress chart for 2008 (January 25, 9.37 pm, N.Y.), there are several planets in Aquarius: Sun, Neptune, Chiron, Mercury and the north node. Hence Pluto on its second 250 year cycle brings a potent pattern of Aquarian revolution for Humanity.

With these kind of planetary placements, there is much opportunity for Humanity to learn deeper co-operation with one another, learning what true Aquarian group work is all about. There will also be much dissension with the existing status quo and very obvious disparities between the old ways of doing things and their need for drastic overhaul. These many planets in Aquarius will also foster a greater humanitarianism, philanthropy and a spirit of right relations.

Pluto Ingress: Libra Rising

Libra is the Peacemaker and seeks justice and fairness for all. Libra’s ruler Venus is also placed in Capricorn, very close to Pluto, guaranteeing some intense transformations in planetary relationships. Venus is the hierarchical ruler of Capricorn, relating to the great ‘Mystery of Makara’, or the relation between the solar and lunar angels (soul and body).

Pluto is associated with the probing and revealing of the great mysteries, and perhaps in this next 250 year cycle, something major may be revealed to humanity. It has for instance, been prophesied by the Master D.K. that the fear and mystery around death will disappear in the next couple of hundred years.

Also conjoining Venus and Pluto is Jupiter in Capricorn. Exoterically all these planets in Capricorn can increase human greed and avarice where the love of money (and fear of not having it) reaches new depths. (Hence the financial crashes mentioned earlier.) However, esoterically Jupiter is the ruler of the second ray of Love-Wisdom and holds an interesting position in Capricorn, around the themes of love and material things:

” Jupiter … falls in this sign. This fall must be studied from two angles, for Jupiter in its lowest aspect gives the fulfilment of desire and satisfied demand, whilst in its highest Jupiter is the outgoing expression of love, which attracts magnetically to itself that which is desired—this time the good of the whole. In Capricorn, therefore, Jupiter reaches its lowest point of expression in the densest material aspect, and then—as love and selflessness triumph—this lowest aspect vanishes and disappears. It is to the "fall" of the highest aspect that the symbolism refers, and then later to the fall or disappearance of all that is base and low. Love is fallen and blinded when desire is rampant; desire vanishes when love triumphs. Neptune is often spoken of as falling in this sign and for the same reasons … both fall in Capricorn, when the Christ life and consciousness come to full fruition.” [4]

As Libra relates to the theme of money (as do these three planets), it seems that this will be one of the major crises that Pluto will trigger. The world is primed for an economic meltdown, something that started happening a few days before the Pluto ingress into Capricorn. As detailed in the above table:

Worst
Best

Destruction of material values leading to stockmarket crashes around the world, recession, economic depression.
Fairer redistribution of resources after a ‘level playing field’ has been created economically. A new world monetary system established.

Libra Soul Ruler, Uranus

Uranus, soul ruler of Libra and personality ruler of Aquarius, acts as a pivotal point or bridge between the personality and the soul of the chart. Its placement in Pisces represents a conflict between the discriminating, analytical, critical Western mind (Virgo) on the one hand, and the cultivation of acceptance and unconditional love (Pisces) on the other.

In this fifth branchrace of the fifth subrace of the Fifth Rootrace (5.5.5) where mind has been developed to the ‘nth degree’, the cultivation of these Piscean qualities are one of the best things Humanity can learn from this departing age. Nevertheless, the critical and separative aspect of Virgo has been potently energised these past 500 years; it constitutes the ‘dweller’ or shadow of this Fifth Rootrace. Quoting from an essay about Uranus in Pisces:

“Therefore, Uranus ’ passage into Pisces may signify a far more occult approach to consciousness unfoldment, through for instance meditation , telepathy or mediumistic inspiration. It is the task of the more advanced Pisces to be a mediator between the unconscious and conscious, as opposed to being a medium. The difference is one of mental polarisation instead of the emotional, the watery Pisces’ point of least resistance.
... With the planet of technology (Uranus ) in the sign of artistic expression (Pisces ), the world may seem some unusual and original art forms birthed …
As Uranus is the planet of occultism (the science of the unseen), its passage through Pisces (the sign of mysticism), may see some glimpses of the unique new groups to emerge in the coming Age of Aquarius .
Uranus moving through Pisces may signal the start of some major breakthroughs in the Science of Esoteric Psychology …
One of the major healing keys with Uranus in this last sign of Pisces is Liberation through releasing the mental and emotional influences of the past. Uranus is also about unique self-expression and yet Pisces is about non-ego and in some case non-identity! There exists therefore, a certain tension in maintaining these pairs of opposites . Uranus is also about serving the greater good, and Pisces about sacrifice in selfless service, therefore the combination of both may stimulate the world to look after its bereft and downtrodden a little better. There may be more compassion expressed for some nations and groups, applied with the salve of Love-Wisdom (the Second Ray ), one of the major rays to pour through Pisces.” [5]

Pluto for Capricorns: Races and Nations

Those with the Sun in Capricorn will obviously be going through some major renovations, individually and collectively. The Jewish Race is a Capricorn personality and a first ray soul, so Pluto’s ingress to Capricorn will have a profound effect upon them.

It may well signal the rising of anti-Jewish feeling in the world but also the resolution of long-standing problems; they may well have to traverse their racial ‘underworld’ in order to transform the Jewish character, especially in relation to the ‘Scapegoat’ of Capricorn and other sterotypes. This may well have a profound effect in Israel where one third of the world’s Jewish population live and are engaged in ongoing conflicts with the Palestinians.

Australia is also a Capricorn personality (as is Greece, India, Japan, Spain, Austria, Brussels and Paris), and Pluto’s ingress into Capricorn occurs on Australia Day, January 26th! All of the above nations will go through some torrid times no doubt, as Pluto reveals the hidden, forcing these entities to look at themselves and what is in need of transformation.

Some very dark and ugly revelations may emerge and the point of least resistance for many of these Capricorn personalities (who are not necessarily that integrated or mature), will be to default to the power aspect of Pluto and Capricorn and exercise total ruthlessness. India and Japan may be two nations in particular to monitor in this respect.

There is much in the world in need of desperate change and it seems in many areas that this change is not happening quickly enough for many reasons: Humanitarian, economic, political, social etc. Pluto in Capricorn will force these needed changes whether we are ready for them or not. Bring it on!

Wonderful, Juniper.

I just skimmed the polarities at the bottom though, if I start reading them my mind will probably blow a fuse.

Yeah, I agree: good reading. I didn't really enjoy the prediction that India and Japan would be the ones to resort to brutal power plays over their population, but it was still an interesting read overall.

I don`t know much about the fifth root race.

Does anyone have some good links to share with me?

Yes AG, interesting yet scarey and uplifting as well.

This was great MM and Juniperb. Thank you.

Hmmm... seems like this new phase is going to hit me hard, for better or for worse, because all, I say "all", my planets are aspected by Pluto in Capricorn... (I think) either directly or out of sign conjunctions, but I still have to check that out.

But MM, I am already feeling what you wrote about. I am certainly cleaning up house. I feel different too, highly optimistic for a negative person such as myself. It's refreshing to actually feel positive, not because anything in particular has happened, but just because I know what needs to be done, and not being afraid to do it.

Also, I have just become luckier. I am not bragging, I am just grateful that not all bad experiences come to me. That's all.

Next on the list... take over the world. kidding.

Pluto in the early degrees of Capricorn conjuncts my Sun and squares my Virgo Moon. Meanwhile Saturn is playing t-square to my Saturn opposite Venus and Mercury. Should make for an interesting time. At least I can look forward to a Jupiter return this year.

I enjoyed this take on planets in their fall (in Capricorn anyway):

"It is to the "fall" of the highest aspect that the symbolism refers, and then later to the fall or disappearance of all that is base and low. Love is fallen and blinded when desire is rampant; desire vanishes when love triumphs. Neptune is often spoken of as falling in this sign and for the same reasons … both fall in Capricorn, when the Christ life and consciousness come to full fruition.” [4]

Yes, Juni brought it up first, I don't always read informative links when the semester is on because I am already overwhelmed with reading. I just plucked mine from my daily horoscope page which I read more for relaxation and entertainment. I didn't even fully analyze the fluff piece I posted and it looks like from Juni's dates that it was wrong anyway.

Unmoved, I love seeing you here. I want to make clear that I didn't author the above article, just added the sentence "intro" at the top so everyone knew why I was posting it, especially in Wax. It seems worth noting to everyone. I remember Libra said something about house cleaning and that struck me, but I think I remember you being Scorp/Virgo influenced?

I personally have Pluto squaring my Pluto from this last March until October almost two years from now.

To add to the fun (since my life is always such a breeze being double Cap influenced) I have Saturn squaring Saturn which started in October and will continue until this July.

I actually like my life right now. Things are seriously happening for me. I am advancing toward my career goals, being exposed to all kinds of opportunities and learning experiences, taking steps towards my artistic dreams, getting closer to my friends, family, and the people I care about, and becoming a better mom constantly. I'm pretty sure prayer helps. So does training myself to look for the gift in everything... but that is a form of prayer too.

MysticMelody, I attempt to balance Exoteric Astrology with Esoteric astrology. For me, it provides the physical/material balance with the Spiritual.

Many moons ago, a Friend did my chart using both influences ie Natal physical, Sabian symbols and Rays. He also gave me the guidance to understand the hows and whys both are used. This helps me see all aspects and how to work towards fullfillment of this life experience.

Nothing wrong with fluff... I get astro.com daily

"Exoteric"

Thanks for my Word of the Day, Juni

Here's an interesting part from Wiki:

"Philosophical context

Most philosophical and religious belief systems presume that reality must be independent of what an individual makes of it. However, even before the days of Plato, a prominent alternate theory of knowledge insisted that the perceived outside reality is merely an internal fabrication of the observer and that it has no existence or substance outside the imagination of the observer. Thus, the reality we interact with is therefore merely a consensus we have reached; if we choose to imagine it otherwise, it will change. From this, one may conclude that anything labeled as "exoteric" is in fact "esoteric". When taken to its logical extremes, the result is solipsism, the notion that it's "all in our heads". "

And here's an extra article that I only skimmed the first couple paragraphs of in case anyone is interested.
http://www.kheper.net/topics/esoteric_and_exoteric.htm

I know "exo"skeleton, so I knew "exo" must have meant outside, but I wanted to learn what exoteric actually meant so I could understand.
Oh wait, I just read more of this. My philosophy teacher would be interested in this. (He's hilarious btw, and wicked smart of course. He signed his last email to me "Hugs and Kisses" because he wanted me to chill about not getting my writer's manual from a little college dude on ebay.) But anyway, the article seems to start bashing Exoteric somewhat, so just know that isn't the reason I posted it. I think I also have and enjoy a nice balance of esoteric and exoteric in my life, as far as I can tell from my understanding of both of those terms.

Talk about syncronicity MysticMelody!!!!

I used that Kheper site (I love it!) this a.m. along with a Quantum Theory/Nature of Light post I labored over.

It isn`t bashing exo ... imho.

It stated:

quote:
Thus we have (putting it of course simplistically) two fundamental positions; the Exoteric literal religious-and-scientific position, which requires no transformation of consciousness, and is therefore accessible to the "average joe"; and the Esoteric "mystical" and philosophically sophisticated position, which is based on the transformation of the self and the understanding of the nature of reality.

That is, if we are tallking about the same article...

It's great that I picked a site you already enjoy! Hopefully I'll take a closer look sometime soon, then I'll know more of where you are coming from. It did seem interesting at first glance!

Ok, I'm off to find an example of "irrational" behavior on the net as per one of my discussion board assignments this week. They are easy to find, but I want a really GOOD one.

And some for 26T too, hope you are feeling well. Life is good beautiful princess. No matter what, life is good.

Then may I suggest any religious site??? Irrationality "my God is bigger/better than your God" seems to be a given mindset on most.

Enjoy your search & do share your example!

Juni, Thank You for the Rainbow
and the info.

Hey Mel. I agree, life is good. Today I noticed my progressed moon just moved into Scorpio; "more Pluto-ness", just what i needed. Havent had much to say here these days. But, life is still good. Yes.

Well, Juni, I just got to read the philosophy class classic example of "begging the question".
When you say:
God exists because the bible says so which is obviously true because God wrote it.

This is how your argument looks:

God exists

The Bible says that God exists

The Bible is true because God wrote it

Therefore, God exists

The argument assumes what it is trying to prove. A fallacy of presumption.

This class seriously trips my trigger.
My last quiz question tonight was an extra credit "essay" to write a mini position paper arguing why I should be given extra credit points. A decent answer gets one or two points and an exceptional answer gets 5 points. He is already "impressed" with my "balanced" answers and he has actually mentioned astrology twice related to astronomy, and once in a clearly positive manner. He's also trying to out-persuade me. I think he knows my secret

Being a Philosophy class, I would simply write "why NOT"??

Fits all the criteria nicely

Must be getting early
Clocks are running late
Paint by number morning sky
Looks so phony

Dawn is breaking everywhere
Light a candle, curse the glare
Draw the curtains
I don't care 'cause
It's all right

I will get by / I will get by
I will get by / I will survive

I see you've got your list out
Say your piece and get out
Yes I get the gist of it
but it's all right

Sorry that you feel that way
The only thing there is to say
Every silver lining's got a
Touch of grey

I will get by / I will get by
I will get by / I will survive

It's a lesson to me
The Ables and the Bakers and the C's
The ABC's we all must face
And try to keep a little grace

It's a lesson to me
The deltas and the east and the freeze
The ABC's we all think of
Try to give a little love.

I know the rent is in arrears
The dog has not been fed in years
It's even worse than it appears
but it's all right.

Cows giving kerosene
Kid can't read at seventeen
The words he knows are all obscene
but it's all right

I will get by / I will get by
I will get by / I will survive

The shoe is on the hand it fits
There's really nothing much to it
Whistle through your teeth and spit
cause it's all right.

Oh well a Touch Of Grey
Kind of suits you anyway.
That was all I had to say
It's all right.

I will get by / I will get by
I will get by / I will survive
We will get by / We will get by
We will get by / We will survive
