As we plunge headlong into apathy; perhaps not each of us..but the bulk of us, if you will, perhaps we should ponder on this:Is there a reason we are born such hopeful creatures for the most part? I mean what would a world without idealism and hope be?
What would a world whose denizens were born apathetic look like? How many different types of BBQ would there be? How many Tucker automobiles? How many Moon landings? How many Linda Goodman books?
God sends an army of Hopeful soldiers into this world to do, and believe. Some fall quickly, some are wounded along the way and develop scars. Others succumb to cynicism and die, as it were. But it doesn't end there..not by a long shot. Think zombies; zombies that bite other people and turn them into zombies.
Think apathetic people spreading apathetic energy and cynical messages. Think of the disease being spread, not only by hurtful experiences..but by hurtful messages..or just plain hopeless ones. Energy drains walking and talking all around.. Something has to fight this. Something.
An army of Idealistic, Trusting warriors are constantly entering this battlefield Earth, and while some fall and some die, still others live to carry on the mission.
They smith their armors with patient experience, persistently find their way..and trudge on. They spread a different message; a sort of cure for apathy: Hope.
And that, dearest Virginia, is why there are children, why there is hope, why it's NOT dumb to be trusting and why there definitely SHOULD BE a Santa Claus (if there isn't one already. Don't tell him I said that.)
This struggle will not be won by counting the number of times they've made you cry, but through a concerted effort to keep smiling and keep them smiling. So keep your chin up soldier! The world needs you.
Love,
daf
