“Beauty is a form of genius - is higher, indeed, than genius, as it needs no explanation. It is of the great facts in the world like sunlight, or springtime, or the reflection in dark water of that silver shell we call the moon.” Oscar Wilde

Thank you 26, HSC and TINK! There are a few more I might share later today. I'm currently taking a class where I'm learning how to make my own paints with dry pigments and about a lot of mediums I didn't even know about. This weekend I have to make a silverpoint drawing which is a method used by the old masters and only a handful of artists still work with the medium. I've come across this really great recipe for chalk gesso. It's quite different from the standard acrylic gesso and it has such a beautiful quality to it. The only part that bothers me a little is that it is made with rabbit-skin glue. Ok, I'm going off on tangents now. I'm just excited about starting to work in more traditionally accepted mediums. Except for the etching, all of the works I've posted are made with ball-point pen and watercolor. Horse's Mouth is made with some acrylic and oil pastels as well. That's a very peculiar one and if anyone has any questions about it, I'm ready to have a little chat should you ask. Thanks again! IP: Logged |

I think Untitled should be called "Nourishment" but I don't really understand art. I would love to hear explanations on all of them with any relevant info that an informed person takes for granted. (Meaning... explain to me like I am in Jr. High art class.) If you are so inclined, that is. IP: Logged |
