I was reading the paper on Sunday and there was an article by a lady called Stephanie Merritt about her postnatal depression. Read it here if you are interested: http://lifeandhealth.guardian.co.uk/family/story/0,,2270535,00.html#article_continue She quoted a poem by Anne Stevenson about suicide which I thought was deeply moving and highlights the struggle that must face people with suicidal thoughts. Luckily, but for the grace of all the gods I have never been there. It's called "Vertigo". I think it's amazing: Mind led body to the edge of the precipice. They stared in desire at the naked abyss. If you love me, said mind, take that step into silence. If you love me, said body, turn and exist.
