The sun was rising as I began my day I left home and met people I was showered with their greetings All around me, they were smilingMost people are creatures of fears They are afraid of being ordinary They are afraid of aging and of dying They are afraid of life- of living But when it comes to short-cuts to power People are less afraid, but intrigued To them conscience means nothing A shocking number of them lack discipline They do not hesitate to harm A kind and life-loving soul for their own ends All those shattered ideals and dreams Life is not what it seems Why are people afraid of being themselves? Why would they rather exploit another And rob something from him that does not belong to them? They corrupt, degrade their souls while thinking it's empowering What distortion of the meaning of life! Such great evil stems from ignorance and fear The greed and the cruelty of human beings Life is not what it seems I still remember the bored people's greetings I still remember their hollow act of smiling All those shattered ideals and dreams Life is not what it seems They see only profit in their victim They take pleasure from killing him The greed and the cruelty of human beings Life is not what it seems D IP: Logged |

Thank you, 26taurus! Thank you, Pearlty!Indeed that's what I have observed. Most people don't seem to be comfortable under their own skin. How sad. I haven't written poems for a long, long time, and I have not retained what I possessed during my prime. I would like to write with more subtlety, and more flexibility. But I suppose that all depends on how passionate I am about writing poems this time around. Practice makes perfect, and more reflection and introspection and keen observation also help. The question is how much energy I will devote to writing again, after a long hiatus. Thank you both. Your feedback means a lot to me. D xxxxxxxxx IP: Logged |
