kind of closer one of the eagle there are some imperfections in the wood on some of them. the soulmate one had many wood imperfections and was difficult to carve, i am not 100 percent satisfied with any of them.. IP: Logged |

They are all gorgeous! Woodburning seems like it would be challenging to achieve great detail in, but you have done a fantastic job! Have you taken classes? How long have you been working with this medium? Are you working on anything now? How long does it take you to create one of these (i'm sure it varies, but about how long)? What I especially like about the soulmates one is their hair. You've achieved a sense of movement in that one; great flow. It looks like theyve got fire around them too! I like how their hair forms an enclosure around them in the shape of a heart. The lion seems like it wouldve taken a long time! It's awesome. Great attention to detail there! The sun really glows in the nature scene. I like how you leave a naturalness in a lot of these, let the wood show through. It's nice especially in this natural scene. The eagle piece might be my favorite too. I like the simplicity of it. The eagle is free in a sky free of clouds. I love it. It carries a peacefulness. Very impressive, Sunshine. Rock on. You carved those in wood??? Wow. Yes, that's what I was thinking... how difficult it would be to get such detail. Those wings are beautiful. Very nice. I like the soul mates, and eagle and lion... but my very favorite is the sunrise. I think that's a cabin on the far right? I think I live in that neighborhood in my dreams... And I think it's cool that the flash on the picture of the eagle carving looks like a moon in the cloudy night. IP: Logged |

26t - thank you for your kind words.I like working with solid mediums, right now I am working on a stained glass piece that I am making a guitar out of. I am totally into working with the glass right now. it should be cool when I get done if I dont get distracted and leave it. Also, tile, like I did a table top in tile that really turned out cool and one in stone that turned out cool too. I paint sawblades circular and other, I find unique blades at antique sales and garage sales and then paint scences on them. I haven't much touched those in awhile, but I have about five really cool blades waiting for me to paint, including two that are double handled about 6 foot long. I haven't taken any classes, i buy books on different styles of things and mish mash ideas until I get something in mind I like to try. I would like to try my hand at some canvas oil painting eventually, just whatever catches my interest.I combined the carving and painting because I enjoy both.It takes awhile with the carving and each is different depending on the hardness of the wood and imperfections present. I tried inertia syles, but get frustrated because my skill level with the scroll saw is not what I want it to be..most of those that you see in that style are pattern pieces anyway, which while beautiful, are replicated by many inertia artists. I am glad you noticed the heart enclosing the soulmate couple. that piece caused me a lot of grief due to the wood being imperfect and very hard to carve.I would like to redo that piece and perhaps one of just the woman, as I think she is lovely. i fashoined it after thesoulmate picture that was posted around here somewhere and made her breast slightly larger and put a ab definition on the man! ...subtle differences....and of course freehand wood carving will never be an exact replica of any picture I try to do, no matter what tips I use! so my attention span wavers and I always seem drawn to new mediums....sometimes I can finish a piece in one day, only because time kinda quits and when engrossed I just work on it for many housrs, then sometimes, i have some unfinished, that are close to being done that I lose interest and takes me months to get back to one stupid detail that would make it done...and then sometimes i just throw them in the fireplace. anyway, thank you for the positive feedback. thanks ag and mm - your compliments are very generous
