".....where savage angels bend"

That's wonderful.
I have long since suspected angels are not so angelic...they kinda scare me.

Thanks.

I have a theory that angels
are as imbalanced as devils,
from the perspective of man.

But thats a long story.

Yes I would be interested to hear it sometime.
Always been of fan of the Prophecy ? movies, anyway the ones with Christopher Walken.
You'll have to pardon me, I am not as ditsy as I appear, I have a medical conditon that affects my memory, and it would seem, my spelling.
BTW I did watch Magnolia! I just didn't want to hijack MM lovely music thread with my opinion.
Have you seen Constantine? Another take on angels....

I dont know that one, AG.

I like angels, though.

Fallen angels, landlocked angels,
naive in their innocence, or
world-weary with experience.

I liked The Prophecy.

Constantine was okay.

Sure, I'll overlook your spelling.

You can totally hijack MM's thread.

It's a communal thread, anyway
(not the first and doubtful the last),
and the whole point is to spark
those little dialogues.

doot do do

Whoa!
So you think that there are other fallen angels besides Lucifer?
Like here now?
And what of these landlocked that you speak of. So they are born angels and cannot leave earth for some reason????
This is a very intriguing subject to me.
Maybe its cuz I went to Catholic school my whole childhood and spend endless hours staring at gorgeous statues. I dunno?
I don't think Constantine is meant to be taken as a "deep" movie. I mean it has Keanu Reeves in it, love the guy, but he has his limits.
I guess I enjoyed the effects and the idea of him having to redeem himself. Redemption is a very large theme in my life.
Gotta say tho, that movie was torture to my smoking habit. I think I smoked a whole pack watchin it!

"All is true." ~ Shakespeare

If its been imagined,
its been in existence;
by the time it dawns on us,
the sun has long been burning.

The difficulty is only ours;
can we imagine a universe so vast,
as to contain everything we think?

The objective becomes subjective,
the subjective becomes objective;
the real is reflected in the mind,
the reflection has a life of its own;
the solid impresses the subtle,
and the coinage of fancy grows flesh.

What would be a landlocked angel?

It sounded nice to me,
but I leave it inchoate,
uncollected.

Collect it,
if it winks at you,
and, so, create it.

Here,
let me set it up;
let me ask you:

"What of these landlocked that I speak of.
So they are born angels
and cannot leave earth for some reason????
This is a very intriguing subject to you."

The frozen gods you gazed upon,
for hours, entranced by their beauty...
Are they not "landlocked angels",
liberated by your astonishment?
For it is your imagination,
and the faith that fires it,
which gives breath and wings
to angels, archangels, virtues, powers,
thrones, dominions, and principalities,
formerly cast in stone.

Just as it is the grace of the artist
to embody them in the stone for you,
so it is your grace to liberate them
from the stone; that the cycle,
the circuit between heaven and earth,
spirit and flesh, may be completed,
and carried on, ad infinitum.

The sacred is always being redeemed
from the prison-illusion of the profane;
the pearl is redeemed from the shell,
the lustre is redeemed from the pearl,
the smile is redeemed from the lustre,
the love is redeemed from the smile,
and All is redeemed from the love...

Yeah, Constantine was what it was,
and, for what it was, it wasnt bad.
The themes are great and universal,
and its nice to see them on screen,
even if the treatment leaves
something to be desired.

You should read my story.
There's a bit in there about smoking.

That is beautiful, what u said.
I did read part of your story, but I had to stop to get ready to throw a huge party. sigh.
UMMM, off subject, but I came across something on here where you had a link to an interview with Terence McKenna. It made me so emotional.
My brother is schizophrenic.
There has been no bigger heartbreak in my lifetime.
even the dozens of deaths I've been thru.
I wanted to thank you for that.
You may or may not know how hard it is for the family or loved ones dealing with someone who is schizophrenic. My bro is the whole reason I went to college to try and get a degree in psych.
I already knew everything they preached.
Which isn't a dis on teachers, it just means I intuitively knew all the things in those heavy a$$ textbooks I schlubbed around for years.
Never even studied for a test.
My G.P.A. was 3.76.
Not bragging, just sharing.
The math did me in tho.
Wasn't born with the algebra gene. alas.
Anyway, sometimes, when my bro is weaving me his long involved conspiracy theories, I start to believe him.
Thats why my mother keeps us apart.
I guess she thinks schizophrenia rubs off, or maybe we will turn into the twin unibombers part two or something.
Anyway, thanks for your imput to this site. Sometimes in life, we have no idea whom we help with just the sharing of information. sorry about the rambling.

No. They did make a movie of the first book, which is called The Golden Compass. There are no plans at present to make the follow ups (I read that it was due to the economy), though it would be cool to see them.

Thank you,
I'm glad you liked
what I wrote here.

The story gets better, i promise.
I appreciate anybody reading it,
but please dont feel any pressure.

I dont mind your "rambling".
I'm like Holden Caulfield;
I enjoy it when people digress,
and follow the train of their
more personal inclinations.

A little prayer went up,
like a gasp, for your brother.
"A short prayer pierces the heavens."
(~ the cloud of unknowing)

I believe that, in a shamanic culture,
your brother would've received a very
special place in the social order,
and would've been much saner and happier.
I think his story exemplifies what has
happened, and what is still happening,
to a great many sensitive, gifted people,
who have been disenfranchised and,
to a large extent, disinherited,
for having had the misfortune to be born
in an industrialized, dominator culture;
where their potentials are unseen, --
or seen as liabilities, to be shamed,
choked, starved, and snuffed-out.

Much Madness is divinest Sense -
To a discerning Eye -
Much Sense - the starkest Madness -
`Tis the Majority
In this, as All, prevail -
Assent - and you are sane -
Demur - you`re straightaway dangerous -
And handled with a Chain -

Emily Dickinson

where was i singing lou reed?
i like him.
but he's no Daniel Johnston.
Now there's a schizophrenic
after my own heart.

Wow! thanks for that video clip. I never heard of this man before.
He does have the signature schizophrenic eyes.
My brother is a musician too.
When he was 7 my mom and I took him into a music store to pick up a song book that my uncle had ordered.
My brother was very HDAD, and he would just slip away, you know.
We heard this LOUD sound coming from the other end of the store and there he was, playing a drum set like he played one forever. The salesman was so intruiged, he had him try a guitar, same thing, a piano, the same thing. He said "Ma`am what you've got here is a musical prodigy"
A career was born.
Our house was never quiet again.
And thank you for the prayer, my brother has been missing for almost one year now.
