Let me make a quilt out of your words
Let me take the "hopes" and the "troubles" and sew them together.
There is plenty of room for the "understands"
I won't leave out the "dreams" or the "pains"
This quilt will be warm - I just know it.

Then I'll stuff my pillow with thoughts.
Press the sheets.
"Unrequited love" on the bottom
"Hurt" and "surrender" on top

Will you come lay with me...
In this bed
Will you make love to me...
"Forgive" and "forget"?

I like your metaphor of love as a quilt. Its quite lovely.
Would that not be great if you could take someones words and sew them all together, and keep them always?
Kind of like a scrapbook of photos and ticket stubs, but much more personal.
Very thoughtful Yin.

Thank you, Gypsee! Is it a metaphor for love? I guess it is...

You've haunted me so with your concept.
I thought about it for two nights in a row.
What would your quilt of words look like?
If you want to share.
I've been racking my brain thinking of conversations, texts, arguements, romance.
And my quilt would have to contain these.

"Whatever"
"Hey legs, c'mere and bring yer butt with ya"
"I love you"
"I hate you"
"I wish I never met you, you spell casting b*tch"
"You saved my life"
"Kissing you feels like drinking water from heaven"
"have my baby"
"No don't move, stay like that with all your hair in your eyes, I want to remember this moment forever"
"I will never be free of you"
"What do you want from me"
"If your trying to make me jealous I will come down there and kill you and every single person at that concert" (My fave)
"GO AWAY"
"Please answer your phone"
"Its all my fault, you never did anything to deserve this"
"Its all your fault"

I could go on. But thats what my quilt from one person would look like. I left out the x rated of course, I sewed it into my pillow.
Thanx Yin, for giving my mind something new to think about. Some times we touch people we dont know in the strangest of ways, and your poem really touched me.

Gypsee,
Thank you for your kind words. I am honored I could touch you with this struggle of a poem.

My quilt will be of words, not sentences.
I like to think of words as objects, tools...
I like to take words and make my own sentences.
And then re-make them using the same words but creating a different meaning.
Right now I can only think of one word burning in the back of my mind - "sweetheart"
...but there are many, many more.
I just don't want to think about them yet.

yes they are.
I had a mini-workshop on this concept. When your ready to explore, let me know. I have some really great exercises, journal prompts and things of that nature to help you draw them out.

You could actually sew the words on squares and make a quilt, if you sew, that is.
How cool would that be! Blessings to you, Sweetheart!
