To all you creative creatures! I might have mentioned, I live a block away from the river. They are doing some major construction on it. Making wider bike paths, and fixing the bridge overhead, which is part of the interstate. Anyway, they keep taking rocks from the river banks and putting them in these giant tubs to take away eventually. They are so beautiful, so many shapes and colors. I want to take some and make something. Can you think of anything to do with a somewhat endless supply of river rocks? I've seen where people paint a single word on them, you know, peace, love, live, laugh, that type of thing and then clearcoat them a bunch of times, and thats nice. But what else? I've already thought of making runes with them, and I might do that, but I would need to hunt around a bit to find alot of rocks in a similiar size to make rune sets. Soooo, any ideas???IP: Logged |

Fred Flintstone says, "How about bowling balls?"Stonehenge: The Great Pyramid of Dayton: Castle (be careful to make it safe for the kids): Paint angry faces on them, and have them picket their eviction from the riverbed. IP: Logged |

river rocks are used for hot stone massage, so gather a ton, polish them and kit them up...there's your small fortune!IP: Logged |

LMAO @ AG! Only you would come up with angry faced rocks! I'm still laughing. Now you got me thinking, maybe I can put a string around them and sell them as "pet rocks" I don't think too many people are old enough to remember that gimmick. IP: Logged |

Yin, how do you get them to stay together like that around the fountain. And Kat, how do you heat them for a mesage? Or to I just gather them up, print a pretty page on the box, and let the other person figure it out. I suppose I could just get a wheelbarrow and dump them in my "dirt garden." Not as pretty as flowers, but less maintenance. IP: Logged |

paint the word "bo" on them, then you have bo-rocks to sell. kinda like a presidential chia pet without the herbs.IP: Logged |

i have ssen people polish them perfectly and make like handles for towel hangers or cabinet handles from them. you can use them in landscape projects.i love rocks very much. you should definately keep them and decide at some later date. or like i said make a bunch of bo-rocks and sell them for 3 bucks. in this economy a little extra never hurts.IP: Logged |

Instead of using them as paper weights, you could use them as children weights - to keep your children from wandering too far.The hot rocks for massage are heated onsite wherever they're used. You could probably find instruction for their use online. It's not a bad idea. I heard about a lady who started selling tumbleweed online as a joke, but started doing it full time when she realized that there actually was a demand for tumbleweeds. IP: Logged |

How big are they? I'm imagining bowling-ball-sized rocks. Are they smaller? To hold them together for a fountain, you'd probably have to use some kind of mortar or cement. IP: Logged |

GypseeWind,Oh, sorry- I don't think I can provide any useful idea, since I'm not a very artistic person. However, I did notice that you mentioned runes- you have studied runes, GypseeWind? That's so cool! Perhaps I would try carving runes on rocks if I had learned runes... Two years ago, I moved to a seaside resort and, just like you, GypseeWind- I lived just about a block away from a river. I loved that river, loved contemplating it and tuning into its mystical energies...I still love the river, and re-visit it sometimes. D ------------------ Love is life force, hate is death force. CPN ROFLMAO!!!! thats the spirit! I will single handedly drag the economy back on its feet with my sale of Bo-rocks.You will all be rememebered, I swear, this post is proof that you share my fortune. AG The rocks are all sizes. From pebbles, to skippers, to bowling balls, to gather a few and hide a body under. I know I should keep them, they mean something. I keep thinking when I'm sitting on the river bank about how this area was so populated with indians (I mean it is like a BIG thing here, our streets are named stuff like, Hiawatha, and such.) We have a popular tourist attraction called the Miamisburg Mound, which is a giant hill of buried Indians. I would post pics and articles, but you could google it faster, if your interested in that kinda stuff. Plus, I would be hounding AG, night and day with my whining, "AG, how do I resize?" "AG, how do I get the page to look like a peice of paper and not the whole damn forrest it was cut from, etc..." Anyway, I digress, I sit on the riverbank, thinking about the Indians and their canoes going back and forth, and these rocks, which they walked on, and used for things. What does a city do with used river rocks? I have no clue. Probably end up in the dump, I would imagine. Then when they need rocks for something, they order $100,000 worth of "new" rocks. D, Yes, I did runes for quite a long time. Would you like a reading? I dont think I would carve the rune symbols into the rocks tho, I'm not good with sharp objects, seriously, my indian name is "Runs With Scissors" ( long story) But I would paint the rune symbols on the rocks, and then clearcoat the hell out of them till they were shiny. Then I would probably sew up some bags of my own design and include a little booklet. Maybe to make my own symbology rocks. Hmmm. AG can you transfer a photo onto a rock, but not like in its photoey form, but like in a partially see-thru type form? Do ya know what I mean? People would like that as an art object I think. Just don't get mad and throw one with your own picture on it through someones window, cuz even Barney Fiffe would figure that out. Keep thinking......you guys are great. IP: Logged |

okay, D, do you have any specific question in mind? Or something general, like "what do the runes want me to know or focus on at this time?"IP: Logged | |
