I have a tale to tell Sometimes it gets so hard to hide it well I was not ready for the fall Too blind to see the writing on the wallA man can tell a thousand lies I've learned my lesson well Hope I live to tell The secret I have learned, 'till then... It will burn inside of me I know where beauty lives I've seen it once, I know the warmth she gives The light that you could never see It shines inside, you can't take that from me A man can tell a thousand lies I've learned my lesson well Hope I live to tell The secret I have learned, 'till then... It will burn inside of me The truth is never far behind You kept it hidden well If I live to tell The secret I knew then Will I... Ever have the chance again? If I ran away I'd never have the strength To go very far How would they hear... The beating of my heart? Will it grow cold? The secret that I hide, will I grow old? How will they hear? When will they learn? How will they know? A man can tell a thousand lies I've learned my lesson well Hope I live to tell The secret I have learned, 'till then... It will burn inside of me The truth is never far behind You kept it hidden well If I live to tell The secret I knew then Will I... Ever have the chance again? A man can tell a thousand lies I've learned my lesson well Hope I live to tell... By Madonna D

Yes, I remember now, thanks D, it did have me to the edge of my seat. I used to have it on VHS, I'll have to look around. worth a re-watch!I saw where you wrote about another one of my fave Sean Penn movies, 'Dead Man Walking' I DO have a copy of that one, its a real tear jerker tho. But definetly worth the tears. Its supposed to rain all day tomorrow, maybe I'll stay in and have a Sean Penn marathon. Throw 'Mystic River' in too, since I'm already gonna be crying! IP: Logged |

I confess, I AM a big fan of Sean Penn, I think he is one of our finest living actors. Also, one of my younger brothers bears a strong resemblance to Sean Penn, in his earlier years, so theres a weird sense of "knowing him" if you know what I mean.IP: Logged |

oops, D, I had the wrong title. The movie I was speaking of is called "Isnt She Lovely" not 'Delovely'. Anyway, I did not know you gave up film watching, since you posted questions about peoples fave films. But now that I know, I respect your opinion, and I won't suggest you films anymore. But if your interested in some of the popular culture, you could always read the books instead of view the films, that is, if you like to read??? I know you like to research, but are the things your researching strictly for knowledge or any guilty pleasures type stuff?IP: Logged |

Awww, your welcom D for D. I can relate to what your saying. I notice my interest in literature changes with the seasons.I like the light reading type stuff in the summer time. Some times I will go to a garage sale and just buy a whole stack of books. They are so cheap, if I read a chapter and don't like it, I just pass it along to someone else. I have found some excellent reading material that very way, which I would have never sought out originally. In the fall, I seem drawn to things of a more spiritual nature. Self-help and books and things like that. In winter I am knee deep in poetry and classics because I think I am more depressed in winter, actually, I know I am. So The Great Ones, take care of me, untill spring, when I read about cleansing, transformation, decorating, art and such. Make any sense? IP: Logged |

some excellent suggestions (IMHO) for fiction are these, which I took into mind your desire to not read too much violence..'The Secret Life of Bees' by Sue Monk Kidd. 'White Oleander' by Janet Fitch 'She's Come Undone' by Wally Lamb and also by him is 'This Much I know is True' (an excellent story of twin brothers, but that one does have some violence and things that are a bit disturbing, however, I recommend it because the overall tone is hopeful and redemptive.) Happy Reading, D! IP: Logged |

I know what you mean about the defining of what is acceptable in violence. I have the same thoughts.I never watch war movies because of the violence, even if they are historically accurate, or close to it, it bothers me. Yet I have watched movies set around war, if the plot or theme is something other than war itself. Such as Cold Mountain, Gone With The Wind, and such. I rented the movie 8MM starring Nicholas Cage, and I don't know if you've seen it, but I couldn't get through it. Same thing with Fear Dot Com. I think it is easier for me to watch horror movies that are fantasy, than to watch those which can and do happen. I notice as I age, I no longer like the same type of horror movies as I did when I was younger. I don't care for 'slasher' films at all anymore, because it's so predictable, and just useless terror, I don't want to experience that. I've never read 'Trainspotting' but I did see the movie, the only thing I can recall of it was the icky part of having an "accident" in the bed. Maybe the book is better? Anyway, let me know how your quest goes for books, they are so plentiful here, perhaps if you find one you like, but can't keep, I can send it to you. IP: Logged |
