Well, I know it stirs dangerous emotion, because it's not pretty, per se. But, it's honest.

I'll probably work on the ending a bit more, because I didn't want the reader to miss the tad bit or more honesty at the end.

There's remorse there, and a feeling of loss and pointlessness... something to be said for a continued loss - something that doesn't get reconciled even if one lives to see their enemy fall.
