To my 16 year old self, you mattered, She felt slighted by your cool She never knew why you didn't respond, and she felt an emotional fool She saw you as tortured and lonely She saw your pain and need for a friend She thought you wanted connection She thought her heart she could lend To my 26 year old self, you were a wildcard, Someone who may have matured She kept seeing your name on other friends' posts, and needed to reach out to be sure She dreamed you were still poetic, She dreamed you might be open to share She aspired to do it diifferent this time Sh aspired to leave the past in its lair Sadly enough, nothing's changed The brick wall of indifference still stands All this has done is remind her why she never put her heart fully in your hands You were never worth the rollercoaster You were never worth the concern She can't take back all the poems and pain you caused though it's better she never got burned...IP: Logged |

I like the way you used the span of the ages.------------------ "Never mentally imagine for another that which you would not want to experience for yourself, since the mental image you send out inevitably comes back to you." Rebecca Clark IP: Logged |
