Why does it have me wringing my hands?

I'm unusually torn up inside

conflicted with irrational demands

Show me now why I feel the bottom dropping,

why my world seems so beyond fix?

I can't stand another day of confusion

nor feel guilty for feeling transfixed

I don't need to be my job anymore

I need something new and more sure

My mind brims over with turns of phrase
