This poem was inspired by my own experiences and Tori Amos's Strange Little Girls,

strange little girl

There's a strange little girl,
Deep inside of me,
Who crawls up my throat,
And every time she is at the nape of my mouth,
I swallow her back down again,
But what does that little girl have to say?
Maybe she's crying for something,
The father who left her,
The mother who neglected her,
She left innocents behind long ago,
She turned fourteen so suddenly,
I can't see her,
But I know she's there,
I can feel her,
But I suppress her,
Mayhap she grew up to be me,
Maybe she is the whole in my heart,
That I feed with weed, wine and men,
Strange little girl,
I don't want you inside me,
So go away,
The only problem is,
I nor you,
Know where else you will go,

To that little girl:
You are not strange
You have endured the emotional turmoil of Life's Growing Pains
It's not your fault
You were stripped of the security and comfort you needed to feel Safe, Loved and Protected

Here's a Wish for that little girl:
May the Energy of Healing shine upon you and soak up all your bruises
May your Heart be cleansed to be consumed by the Innocence which still lies there..sleeping to be reawakened
May you find the Inner Peace within you to calm your Storms
May you Florish and eventually feel Whole and at One with yourself
