It's not like the usual pieces I write, but it's still beautiful.

Elegía Oceánica
Sailor Gemini
Across the valley of Sea Foam, I come home. Across the air, a scent of bread emerges. For the moment, everything seems perfect. Guided by a firm, cold hand, I’m led through the time. Three of us, I see. Mother, Grandmother, and the Maiden, me. I don’t object to the tightness of the Airs, or the sea’s pressuring watch. But silently, somewhere, is a cry for help. From the depths of O̱keanós, a ray of a black light reaches me. A dream of veils dancing in front of me soon becomes in an inescapable truth. All at once, I see it clearly. What was it they always say? History repeats? No. Only to those who don’t remember. And there, I swear to live by an Archer’s light. In the black beams, the images melt terribly. Two girls, and a cold lady. I want to escape. But it’s all I have known. I feel sorry for them. For better, for worse, Poseidóna’s Curse is a piece of my destiny. A dark but inviting warmth surrounds me; I look up. A tender hand wipes away my tears; a sturdy hand offers me the Garnet Apple. And at once, I know what I must do.

Like the whole openness of it, remembered that episode from the beginning of Dante's Divine Comedy...

It's deep, mythical, and beautiful, Sailor Gemini! I could sense the scenery...

Reminds me also, of another myth...
of the story about what happened to "Palinurus."

quote:
Venus now interceded with Neptune to allow her son at last to attain the wished-for goal and find an end of his perils on the deep.

Neptune consented, stipulating for one life 'as a ransom' for the rest.

The victim was PALINURUS, the pilot.

As he (Palinurus) sat watching the stars, with his hand on the helm, SOMNUS (sent by Neptune) approached, in the guise of Phorbas, and said:

"Palinurus, the breeze is fair, the water smooth, and the ship sails steadily on her course. Lie down a while and take needful rest. I will stand at the helm in your place."

Palinurus replied:

"Tell me not of smooth seas or favoring winds,-- me, who have seen so much of their treachery... Shall I trust AEneas to the chances of the weather and the winds?"
And he continued to grasp the helm and to keep his eyes fixed on the stars.

But Somnos waved over him a branch moistened with Lethaean dew, and Palinurus's eyes closed-- in spite of all his efforts...

THEN, Somnos pushed Palinurus overboard and he fell: ... but 'keeping his hold' upon the helm, it came away with him.

NEPTUNE was mindful of his promise and kept the ship on track 'without helm or pilot,'... till AEneas discovered his loss, and, sorrowing deeply for his faithful steersman, (Palinurus), he took charge of the ship himself.

Some things are in our control, and other things may happen to us or our friends and loved ones that are out of our hands-- no matter how tightly we've held on, doing everything we can... They can leave us, get sick, even die-- in spite of all we do.

ref. Bullfinch's Mythology (1998) p.43 "Palinurus" / p.244 "Marmion"

(music) I will give my love an apple (Iona) [6:34] http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cGSNwrsNUd4

I will give my love an apple without e'er a core,
I will give my love a house without e'er a door,
I will give my love a palace wherein he may be,
And he may unlock it without any key.

My head is the apple without e'er a core,
My mind is the house without e'er a door.
My heart is the palace wherein he may be,
And he may unlock it without any key.

Thanks! Yeah, I know the feeling well... maybe a little too well. But just keep going with it.

And I was thinking of posting another work soon.
Thanks for all the comments~
