The path twisted and turned, through trees, weeds, and brush, as it winded its way down to a small creek. This creek was a tiny creek that is: it was tiny in comparison of creeks, though its beauty was just as fabulous and true. The ice cold spring water that ran through this creek, had started its above land journey back to the west. Back towards the big mountainous hill, the one that could, just faintly, be seen in the western skyline.

Back in the direction he had come from.

He was a middle aged man, mid to late 30's. However, at first glance one would guess him to be much younger than this, atleast 5 years younger, he carried the years well. He was about 6' in height, with a body weight of roughly 170 pounds. His build was slender, yet athletic, his stature one of finesse and swiftness. He had short cut, dark brown hair, with a few gray's mixed in it, this giving him a look of aged experience.
Dark brown eyes dominated his face, pulling the attention of anyone whom looked at him. They showed a soul filled with knowledge and intellect. The remainder of his face was handsome, his facial features were strong and with an almost chiseled look of perfection. He hadn't shaved in days, so hair was visible on his chin and cheeks. It grew radically in patches across his face.

He had a dream, a dream that had lasted a lifetime. He was now ready, willing, and eager to see this dream through. He would search every inch of this earth, every cave, every cavern, each mountain, and every city until he found it. He was now a wonderer, a vagabond, a drifter, and a seeker.

The path before him slanted downward into a gully, transcended down in kind of a zigzag fashion. It was relatively steep and had small rocks protruding from it, forming tripping hazards for any unsuspecting soul.
He moved down the zigzaging slope in an effort to get to the bottom. He was a fit man, years of traveling kept his body in good shape, so traveling this hill was quite easy for him. He continued down the path until the creek was visible just feet in front of him.
The path veered to the right, then headed easterly, parallel to the creek. He continued along the path, oblivious of the sites around him. His focus was on the journey.

Suddenly, from the north, came a loud rapping sound. It seamed like a constant knocking noise that floated aimlessly through the air and echoed throughout the entire forest.
Not far from the path, a woodpecker feverishly tapped his beak on the side of an old Elm. The tiny bird diligently carving a hole in the side of the large tree.

In a southern direction came the sound of crunching leaves, it's sound lifting off the ground in, all directions. A few short feet from the path, there was a small chipmunk playfully running through some of last falls fallen leaves. His goal for today was to gather acorns, nuts, seeds, berries, slugs, snails, insects, for his meal.

The man paid no heed to these critters or there sounds. His attention was attuned soley to the path ahead, the journey through this forest.

Directly to his left, the creek flowed in a parallel direction, to which he traveled. It was flowing, eagerly towards its final destination., a destination miles and miles away. The trickling water moved its way east, its sounds lifting up into the heavens, bouncing of the tree branch canopy, and then broadcasting it's harmonic sounds about the wilderness.

Up above, a late august sun shined down, its radiant rays falling glamourously from the blue heavens above. There they kissed the tree tops, most of the beams touched the leaves, and then reflected back up to the heavens. The beams of sunlight that had gotten through, illuminated the forest floor. The shadows cascading from the thousands of tree branches and leaves above, sprawled out across the forest floor. These shadows danced in unison with the wind that would gust through the forest, causing the trees to sway back and forth.

The man continued along the path, oblivious of all that was transpiring around him, he cared little for it. His mind was on the road ahead, on the awaiting perils that may lay in wait, and at the journey.

His journey had begun!
