On June seventh of the year.
Back in nineteen seventy seven.
A little baby was sent here.
From the gates of god's heaven.

Twas a bouncing baby boy.
Whom came to life that day.
His two parents full of joy.
Their love would never sway.

In a small Ohio town.
Was raised this little guy.
How his growth leaped and bound.
As the days passed quickly by.

At age five he started school.
He'd use his brain to think.
Then used was a small stool.
For the fountain he could drink.

Now at the age of ten.
His mother fell very ill.
At the hospital that she'd been
He cried with all his will.

Time did rapidly flow.
Each day, each night, each year.
This boy continued to grow.
Till the age sixteen was here.

He met this pretty little girl.
To hurt her he would never.
OH how his head did swirl.
The fool thought it'd last forever.

At eighteen they tied the knot.
Found was a house in range.
Yet happiness would stay not.
This girl would swiftly change.

The years just continued drift.
As time moved so very free.
His age just continued to lift.
Now he's a father of three.

At the age of twenty five.
On the eve of Christmas morning.
His heart took a plunging dive.
Years shall be spent in mourning.

The phone it ringed it's ring.
As he persistently wrapped presents.
Though bad news it did bring.
Lost was a precious presence.

He ran right out the door.
Stared out across the yard.
His knees fell to the floor.
His heartbeat hammered hard.

He looked up to the sky.
Around him snow flakes fly.
He screamed to the heavens why.
Then softly began to cry.

With his thoughts on the roam.
He prayed there in the snow.
For her a safe journey home.
Then the cold wind did blow.

Just three years down the road.
He met up with his bane.
His happiness completely slowed.
He felt he would go insane.

That girl played an evil game.
Running with all those others.
His heart felt to much shame.
So he left to find another.

Now at thirty here he sits.
Writing down this simple rhyme.
Of my life in little bits.
While passes does the time.

I know not what to expect.
Of whats left in my life.
Though I know I will accept.
Each and every single strife.

See I have this special might.
Three charms god gave to me.
With them in my sight.
I know just who to be.

These my friends are "My Life"!

Truly autobiographical poems like yours take such courage and selflessness to share-thank you. Your ending lines project what you find important now and on the horizon- which is beautiful.

This poem was actually quite the accomplishment for me. It took nearly a year to complete it because I could only work on it for a short time and then I'd have to leave it sit for a while.

I wrote this seven years ago and still to this day I can't read it without all of that emotion flooding right back into me. I can't get through the first part without tears filling my eyes.

1 year- wow! It's very detailed and full of feeling, and I would imagine as you stated difficult to reread.
From your other writings it appears you've come a long way ahead though.
