I see you perched
above my sprays
creating shadows
eating then dropping
your pellets on me
while laughing merrily

Forgetting this species
with her quick tapping glance
already spun around your turning head
squinted at tawny brown
and one half grown talon
peeking from crookedness of branch

Hoping as each heartfelt quill lifts
a calm settling between
admiring extremes
will descend upon their
shared woodsy patch.
