The TunnelA small child held me by my sleeve, asked me to be his mom. I am wandering through a tunnel. He awaits me at its end, a grown up man. Music is played, somebody sings far away, so delicately sweet. Silence cracks and light appears in the distance, behind your back the shadow man And I am running.

Very delicate poem, has an element of nostalgia attached to it. Aging of youth to wisdom. But why is the woman running, or is she running away from herself?IP: Logged |

She is running toward the light. She may be running to the man, who is a shadow at one end. Then again it may have a double meaning and she is running away from any shadow, to the child. A third explanation would be that she is running with the shadow. In any case what I had in mind was the first explanation, suggesting she is moving toward the light behind the shadow, which is future, also a shadow in terms of time. In the Divine Presence, the Light we seek is merely the hind- and shadow-parts of the Magnificent Glory OF The One Who Made Consciousness-itself. We're the little receiving-dishes trying collect all the information we can pool to make sense of the impulses, pulses, that are spiritually discernible, then apply these to the Human experience. Thanks for your poem, Ayelet The things you write are usually very-relevant to me, in my own experience. Thanks for being an Inspiration. ~~ * ~ * ~ Still immersed in the Beauty of the Holidays here, will strains of Handel's Messiah Oratorio filling my head, Heart, and Imagination. IP: Logged |

It's always intriguing to know the unknown. You often run towards what's scary or unknown. Human Instinct. Very often we are taken by the drive to plunge ourselves in the realm of darkness to know the origin of light without caring about that sanctity of pious lanes. As you run towards the shadow I guess you had an inner craving to know who that shadow was, who intrigued your presence so much. Mothers are usually like this, they don't care about themselves when it comes to their child. It's an unusually strong bond there. IP: Logged |

Hello Mirage , writing about a tunnel, I had in mind both the growth from childhood to manhood, and the transition from this world to the world beyond. So yes, this is a journey kind of poem, and I think of the creator as light (and love, by all means, but what kind of love? What kind of light?), not knowing everything there is to know about him/her/them, only what I, small as I am, need to know. I am glad to have someone with which to share my perceptions or feelings of what we call "reality". Thanks for being there too IP: Logged |

I myself don't like darkness that much.I wrote before to mirage about two ways of perceiving the tunnel, and forgot an important one: the passage from the womb to life outside, again from darkness to light. So one either moves from womb to the air, from childhood to adulthood or from death to the beyond, and each such passage involves moving from darkness to light, though I am not so sure about the passage from child to adult, as it seems like, many times, it's just the opposite. Perhaps this passage may only be symbolic to the one from ignorance toward knowledge, as you mentioned before. The woman / mother perceives the man as a shadow because he stands at the end of the tunnel with his back to the light. So she is running to the unknown and to safety at once. She is also running because of her maternal instinct. She is haunted by the child, and wish to find out his destiny, a destiny which is her own. Thank you for taking the time responding

Thank you all... No Mirage, I haven't lend my inner child lots of hugs lately. I didn't feel like it. I guess she is in there somewhere. I rather scold myself for not being as wise or as perfect as I wish to be. But I hope to get close to her (my inner child, tat is...) Sweet performance IP: Logged | |
