Wow...Very subtle story of a human life depicted by you. From youth to aging down. Loved its simplicity and naivety. IP: Logged |

I love that at a young age you appreciated the sight and wisdom of the elderly. One of my favorite books is Onion John, by Joseph Krumgold. It's an amazing children's novel with a protagonist like your Old John Greybeard (love the name). Your poem is spirited like both Greybeard and Onion John. I just found this haven too, Elysia. It's lovely. IP: Logged |

Thank you, everyone! This poem is actually about the environment. This was written at a time when I was learning about global warming and all the things that are happening to the planet. I used to be so scared that one day it could all disappear. It's an imaginary future where only one very old man remains who remembers things like trees & animals.. And people don't even believe they ever existed. Ayelet, Thanks! I'll leave it up there for a while. Am just worried about someone I know stumbling across this and knowing it's me. --- Shared this one as the first coz my stuff is usually too 'dark'. IP: Logged |

Yes.. I have special affection for the very old and very young.. They're both so wise in their own ways. There's things that old people can tell you, that no-one else can. There's things that kids can tell you, innocently and without agenda - that no-one else can. Dealing with all of my 8th house issues, I get too wrapped up in complexity, in my head. So I appreciate simplicity of essence. When you pare things down to the absolute, purest essence, it's blindingly simple. Simplify, simplify - is all I tell myself to do. ^ There's more to it, but I can't quite put it in words as of now. IP: Logged |

Wonderful poem and first post, thanks for the explanation -the contents had to do with global warming and reminiscing. Such an interesting & thoughtful take on the subjects. IP: Logged |
