Debris.Peel away the layers that she built to protect,
within you'll find the child she chose to neglect :
the endless dreams she had the lightness of heart,
unaware then of a World that would rip her apart.
That girl who stopped to smell flowers and skipped everywhere,
a heart bursting with love and a need to care
never feeling the need to hide or pretend,
when exactly did carefree begin it's painful end.
Not knowing loves limits or when to say help me,
broke in so many places but too blind to see ;
taking on too much and eroding with time,
tiring of painting face for the grand pantomime.
Yet still a wry smile at how she got it so wrong,
always a second to all others song :
not near tough enough for a harsh numbing World,
like a flower perishing in cold with its petals unfurled.
Too many battles and too much pain,
what it's doing to her she can no longer feign :
salty tears that fall and trickle upon her lips,
this bittersweet elixir of Life she imbibes in sips.
She'll rest her spirit upon a bereft shore,
finding strength within for the onslaught of more
so very soul weary of Life's duress,
radiate to her your love in an open caress.
