The gardens are painted in red The seeds were made with blood And the lion cries for freedom Near the president’s throne The streets are filled with junk While people live hidden in trunks And the nests are all empty And the clouds are coming soon What is left of the northern village? Now that the school’s been burnt And mothers and children are shot like rabbits Oh policemen, you’ve shot your kin Our race has never risen From the ashes of war And all that there is now Is to let the rain fall down

This poem deciphers the violence of war in a vivid imagery aside more "plain" story telling...IP: Logged |
