Where else could we find eighteen fitting words that, with economy, describe a good long marriage relationship, Pearlty? IP: Logged |

Thanks for your reply Ayelet, enringing is probably not a word per say- (I tend to sometimes use words that are not known, but I like them anyway if they feel/sound right for my poems) However enring minus the 'ing' is a word according to this: http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/enring IP: Logged |

I took the meaning of enringing as en-circling, e.i. making a 'ring' around it... encompass. Since I thought it was a poem about her marriage, I associated the 'ringing' as reminiscent of the sacred 'exchange of bands' (bands, meaning rings) that happens in the wedding ceremony ritual. The ring is symbolic of a promise, as in giving one's Heart to the other.... In most ceremonies, the ring is placed on what's called the ring-finger. There's a vein in that finger leading straight to the Heart... (Not fact-checked, but, something that impressed me in a lecture I heard. I thought it was related to palmistry, but when I checked, I was wrong.) It is also a weak and most-vulnerable finger on the hand? -- thereby saying, we are vulnerable to each other, soft, giving, encircling (the finger as a reminder) to be Caring for each other's heart. Bond-servants in support to and of one another. Gemmies... We are Word-Creatives! ADD---- You have to register and have an 'account' to use that link for the definition, Pearlty. (I don't know if money-exchange was involved in order to register.)
