Drifter, child of the Far East
It hurts that your love didn’t last
Just as I could feel your heart
You simply chose another way

Drifter, I thought you had the cure
Our days were wild and pure
And when I was ready to love you
You had to sail away

Drifter, you know I ain’t surprised
I went ahead, and paid the price
Just as I felt I could reach you
You just simply disappeared

I thought we could have it
Like Jean Paul and Simone
Well they are one in a million
And we just did it all wrong

Drifter, I followed my impulse
All I have now is the blues
As I felt that I could reach you
You simply chose another way

Drifter, it was hard for me to see
Our love wasn't meant to be

whoah...

This song is like 'the female' responding to your poem, LF.

Is not a female voice, but the 'answer' he sings sounds like words your lady-friend would use, explaining how she feels and what she would expect from the relationship in exchange?

(music) I'm A Drifter (Bobby Goldsboro, 1969) [3:44] http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vzPaf7gDa2c

This artist was popular when I was a teen.
