I'm better off alone
Safe and solitary in my head
My own perplexing behavior
can't fill my head with dreadAnd if my thoughts and actions
drift hot and cold
nothing about my expression
will cause inattention to unfold I cannot get angry at myself
the way I could a partner
I won't misread my own intentions
or become so disheartened I will not let myself down
the way that others have
I will not speak in jest and haze
or become a delusion I crave I'll miss the kisses and warm embrace
the comfort of another
But I'll cherish the clarity of thought I keep
and the way my heart stays covered... ------------------

I can relate. Wrote something similar and much more concise in prose. I know sometimes solitude is best, whether because the One didn't show up yet, or you need to clear your mind and balance your heart... IP: Logged |
