I can temper my external facade
Drown every trace of my smile
I can drink the cold brew of conformity
But it will only last for a while

I can pull off the chameleon state
for weeks, or months, or a year
Until my emotions break through
and cascade down in tears

I love my boxes and structure
But I don't think in black and white
I can play a role when it suits me
but I'll always come off trite
