I have this curious habit of taking over a persons mannerisms. Spend time with me and for days I'm aware that I'll laugh the same syle as the other. Or tilt my head, use my hands, whatever it is I seem to be taken over by others speech pattern/mannerisms.And it takes days to shake it off. It's like I have no personality of my own...

Isn't this odd? I kind of think it is chiron in my 7th (I would like to think it's the true ruler of my virgo asc.)

I do have gemini on the Mc. But still, what would make one a mirror of another.

Well, I think mirroring and what you're talking about are slightly different. If you're absorbing someone's idiosyncracies then perhaps Neptune would be involved somehow...

I am like this when it comes to speech and accent. After spending time with someone I can unconsciously take on the cadence, rhythm or even accent of a person. Or their slang. I have Neptune (7th) opposed Mercury (1st) which might have something to do with it.

If you're changing your body movements, then maybe Mars is somehow involved?

I do it too subconsciously. Like if I hang out with someone a lot, I adopt their mannerisms.

I'm a Gemini ASC. I think it's a Mercury thing.

Yeah, I have Gem Ascendant too. And my hands usually have to be doing something when I'm speaking, even when I'm on the phone and no one can see me.

I always do that with people I spend a considerable amount of time with.
I've always thought that was natural?

I think this is common and non-sign-specific.
I just talked to a friend of mine in Florida. She had just gotten off the phone with a friend of hers in South Carolina and was speaking to me with a pronounced Southern drawl -- she never speaks like that ordinarily. I asked her about it and she laughed and told me about her recent conversation.....

I think many people take on characteristics we admire in other people -- it's how we grow. Children do it every day: mimic their elders or other role models.

Gemini Asc here too, I don't think I adopt mannerisms, but the way I speak always changes depending on the people I'm with. I learn languages quickly. It may be normal to some extent I'm sure, but I know people who move from one city to another with a completely different dialect - and they don't change one bit even after several years. See, I could never do that even if I wanted to, I adapt to what I hear around me automatically, it's not even my choice.

Hi my ex husband is

Sun - Cancer
Asc, Mars, Venus - Gemini

I could tell who he had been with that day by his speech and behaviour.

When I met him he was living with two strongly individual men - his Scorpio brother and best friend Taurean.

I realize I am very superficial and fickle. Our marriage took place after 9 mths of meeting. As soon as we were alone on our honeymoon - I thought, who the hell is this!!

Of course we had been alone before but must have interacted with others regularly.

It was even good(ego-centric me) when we seemed to have the exact same views, likes, dislikes. Occasionally, over the marriage I had glimpses of a personality but he was so entrenched in fear and was thoroughly repressed by his overbearing parents and strict childhood.

I do the same thing to an extent!

I've got my Moon on the 3rd cusp, makes me really good at mimicry and reflecting others' behavior.
I do believe this is a form of empathy. Look to the Moon, the 3rd house cusp. My Mercury is heavily aspected, could be that too - but Mercury is more about how we think also. This mirroring is almost unconscious behavior, and is a way of relating/reflecting.

I do this on purpose LOL! I pride myself on being able to imitate people almost exactly. I'm not as good as that guy on E channel but I'm pretty good, especially when it comes to voices and accents. I pick up the idiosyncracies pretty well to. I make a point of showing the person that I can act and sound just like them. It usually brings out laughs. However I do have my own personality.

------------------
Virgo Asc 6˚& Mars 0˚
Gemini Sun 24˚
Libra Moon 14˚(conjunct Pluto 0˚ in 2nd house)
Gemini Mercury 25˚
Cancer Venus 29˚
And yes, i'm a guy!

well, since your gemini, that makes me think of my jupiter at 22 gemini in the 10th, 10th being your reputation (somewhat outter expression). Maybe this postion adds to my doing this...

The talent of overt mimicry or imitation (eg character acting and voice imitation) lies with Aquarius but as for subtle, absorptive mimicry, maybe look to the 7th. I for example have Libra DC with Moon conj DC. Often I adopt others' feelings.

Interesting, 23....in that case, I have Pluto on the 7th, with Neptune in there. So, maybe that just fuels the fire (or I should say puts it out lol)

This happened to me once after some British cousins came to visit. *hides* I've tried hard not to let this happen while I'm in North Carolina and I've succeeded but....... everyone still mistakes me for a New Yorker. *facepalm*

I have a gemini venus/virgo moon
Pisces on the 3rd house cusp
cancer mercury sextile moon
