I have sun in capricorn in the 5th, and it feels like it manifests as an identity that is repressed or difficult to find.
Doesn't help that its ruler is in pisces.

Doesn't the sun in the chart what it is your supposed to do, what your purpose is?

What is my purpose; To dampen (capricorn) fun(5th house)? Geeeeez.
Cap's ruler saturn is in the 7th; Dampen other people's funn???
Yuk, there has to be a better interpretation.

I've uranus/pluto in 1st. Venus/mars in aquarius. I want to be more those things, but cap. feels like it has final say.

Any suggestion would be appriciated.

Sun in Capricorn in the fifth signifies to me that you work hard to receive recognition in fifth house matters.

Except for working with children, which I don't really want to do, what else is there in the 5th?
Gambling?
Love affairs?

See that's the thing, the 5th doesn't seem to have anything concrete in it except children.

It's more than that.....

FIFTH HOUSE: This is the House of
CREATION, PROCREATION and RECREATION...
how you express your own creativity: art, music, dancing, acting, writing, poems, songs, stories, athletics, craftsmanship;
putting your personal style into what you make or do, creating beauty in any material form or in any mental or physical activity;
how you appreciate creativity in others, how you enjoy art & music, how you find joy through the perception of beauty in any form;
how you procreate yourself: romance & courtship & love-making & making babies;
your children, your personal creations;
how you seek recreation: games, sports, pastimes, hobbies, concerts, theatre, gambling, dating, child-like play, playing with children.
( http://www.astrologyzine.com/what-is-house-5.shtml )

Sun in the 5th House:
You want to be noticed for your unique and special qualities and your creativity. You are happiest when you are expressing yourself in a special way and attention comes your way as a result. You have a flair for drama and/or sports. You are proud of your fun-loving attitude towards life. As you demonstrate your ability to shine, avoid grabbing center stage all of the time. Your happy disposition is enough to get noticed, but do find creative ways to express yourself, as this is the path to true happiness for you.

Alternate Interpretation: With the Sun's energy in the Fifth House, your personality drive may express itself through adventurous and perhaps speculative ventures. An inner restlessness craves an outlet through social, romantic, and daring action. Pleasure and amusement play an important role in your search for freedom of self-expression. The love motive may also be strong. The overriding need is for creative expression of your personal powers and abilities. This could be through leadership, art, sport, entertainment, New Age ventures or the use of modern technology. In this search you will cover a lot of ground and a wide range of interests. Children may play an important role in some way. -- From the Character Profile.

~ The Sun and the Fifth House ~
The underlying impulse behind the fifth house is to express that part of us which is unique and individual. - Howard Sasportas
The fifth house is the house of creativity, especially individual creativity, free and wild self-expression at its best and at its worst. In the fifth house we try to be original rather than productive, said Dane Rudhyar. In the eleventh house the individual is not as important, there the collective creates through the individual. In fifth house, the house ruled by the Sun, the individual creates.

According to C. E. O. Carter in the fifth house planets are less troublesome than anywhere else, because the house is traditionally lucky as it is in trine to the first house. The fifth house speaks, first of all, about our ability to enjoy life through our self-expression or just by being ourselves, and secondly it also reflects our ability to create joy and happiness for others. In the fifth house we do things we enjoy doing - and things we would do if we had no moral or other restrictions.

In a well-working fifth house work is always a joy, never just a duty, our creative work changes us. Quite many people find in the fifth house a vocation or a hobby they devote their whole lives to. For instance Dickens (Mercury in the fifth house) said that one of his golden rules in his work as a writer was, that he never did anything he couldn't wholeheartedly devote himself to. And this is what we all should do in the fifth house, devote ourselves to things we tare enthusiastic about, forgetting everything else for a while, and thus rising above our troubles and being generous in a typically joyful Leonian style.

Those with the Sun in the fifth house usually have a double dose of this joyful attitude, they delight in being themselves, they are convinced that they will be accepted by others as they are: "The supreme happiness of life is the conviction that one is loved; loved for oneself, or better yet, loved despite oneself." (Victor Hugo, Venus in the fifth house).

[I started writing this before the 3rd post was written]

I consider the 5th house to be a creative house.

I'm a Capricorn Sun, too. Mine is in the 8th. How does that manifest? My Sun does seem more devoted to figuring out the inner workings of the human psyche than just initiating projects in the physical world.

With a Capricorn Sun in Leo's house, I would think that there's a bit of a showman in you. I would think you'd want the spotlight.

I'm not sure that the Sun alone tells you what you are to do. What's your MC in? That can give a theme to your life goals. Otherwise, I'd also look at the input your Ascendant is giving to your personality.

With Uranus and Pluto in the 1st (or are you saying that the Uranus/Pluto midpoint is in your 1st?) your personality could be affected by those energies. Uranus can be a little unstable, or contribute to a feeling of instability.

I think that Capricorn as a major placement will always give the feeling of an identity that is repressed or difficult to find...at least for a time. We grow more comfortable with it with age. If you had your Sun in Capricorn's natural house, it might make it a little more comfortable (as would some sort of grand trine or something), but generally Capricorn is not a sign associated with an easy, comfortable inner feeling all the time.

OOoooohhh!! You guys are good, and thanks for all the web links, I'm gonna check them out.

AG: I have virgo rising with mercury also in capricorn and the 5th--puts me right back to where I started with the sun.
And uranus is conj pluto in the 1st house, both trine my sun.

Zala:
Oh I wanted to jump for joy!! That's the best thing about astrology when you read in black and white exactly what you feel. I am an extremely happy person. People often tell me I'm the happiest person they know. And my friends always say "everybody loves Wendy". I fall in love everyday with people,places, things,life. And I feel like I'd like to share that-but how?
I feel like I was zapped with energy with what you wrote. I'm going to analyze (virgo) this thread over and over to see what I can do with those things.

Thanks everyone!

Is your Mercury trine your ascendant? You would probably be a good speaker with a very quick wit. Along with that comes a love of learning.

In answer to your question, my Mc is taurus with the full sign of gemini in it/jupiter is in gemini.
Even the gemini ruler mercury takes me back to capricorn and the 5th...

I got this from one of your links;
quote:
Kafka (the fifth house ruler Jupiter in conjunction with the Sun) laughed so heartily in reading his own texts, that he fell off his chair.

That is so me-I may not always amuse others but I always amuse myself!

This is so much fun- I'm learning more about myself. I think it's harder to interpret our own chart stuff because we can't alway take the steps back to look at it objectively.

I have a 5th house Moon conjunct Pluto. I like to be entertained, too. I also try to entertain when I can.

My chart ruler is also Mercury, but I'm Gemini Rising. I have Saturn in the 1st for an extra Capricorn feel.

I'm glad you're having fun exploring your chart. I'm always interested in insight into my chart, too...even after studying it for years.

good girl, we both have 5th house suns, just that they are in opposite signs

I have Sun in the 5th House too, I think it helps me to have a rather buoyant personality. Sometimes I laugh like a hyena.
It is also in Cancer. I think it means I have fun nurturing people? I have fun being a moody, crabby glutton? I have fun producing children?

About 5th house being of Creative Expressions, I think it is rather true. I write and compose poems. I love to be unique, have a bit of a drama mama-ness to me and when I'm in a zany mood I might remind you of Donkey from Shrek.

Oh but I'm still a moody, crabby Cancer.
Nothing beats the 5th House in having fun, I think there's a very dark side to that too. Hedonism, strong ego, being too much of an exhibitionist etc.

Oh yeah, good girl, I totally hear it! 5th house Virgo. I have fun serving people LOL.
Actually, I do, in a way.
It's service through *fun*, and through creatively too. I really enjoy serving my fellow human being by care-taking in an entertaining way.

Just my take? I would say as Capricorn in the 5th, you take your fun seriously. And since Cappy is also so practical, and the 5th house isn't necessarily about practicalities but about creative expression, I would say that you know how to make the practical stuff a lot of fun, and know intrinsically how to present mundane stuff in such a way which is entertaining and creative, and attention-catching. And you seem to do just that from what I've seen !...I think it's a wonderful marriage of combinations in your chart, beautiful integrated and totally unique

The only thing you have to watch out for is censoring yourself excessively and being too much of a perfectionist. The placement you have has an inherent knowledge of if something's too indulgent, so it's like you already have a natural built-in boundary...all you have to do is trust it

LL, look at the house too. The blending of the sign and the house is the point! Of course I'm a Virgo, but HOW I express it is pointed to through the 5th house!

You just wanna be a Virgo so damn badly, don't you? Sorry, I could not help that either

Hmm, good girl.. for 5th house, I do the following..

1. Creativity - anything i do at work even if it's mundane.. i try to see how can i make it more creative?

2. Romance - Fake romance is impossible for me due to being a Scorp. But, i surprise my Cancer wife with weekly dose of romance that includes many things such as making any location into romantic location, suddenly pulling a romantic memory of past, hugging kissing for long time, sex etc..

3. Children - This is yet to come in my life. But, I love to think about it often. I am going to be one heck of strict egoistic father!

4. Gamble - Oh MY MY. Stock Market, Casinos.. Let's get going...

5. Self Expression - This one is not easy in daily life, but I take advantage at work.. As soon as opportunity comes to present something to a bigger audience.. I will be ON it.

6. Entrepreneurship - Even if it doesn't work out, I always keep establishing plans for small business ideas or ventures. Keeps myself busy.

Scorpio and Cap both are darker signs and being in 5th house is paradoxical sometimes. So, I can understand what you mean by your question.

Is it just my fifth house sun or is this the best thread ever!! LOL!

Thanks everyone, it all sounds on the mark.

MVM:
Taking my fun seriously is a great way to interpret capricorns role in all this.
Someone might think how is that, but I do see it as a responsiblity I have to myself to enjoy each day and go out there and make it fun.
You know that got me thinking how I actually scheduel fun. I will take a half hour get out the ipod and dance (by myself!), having a grand 'ole time!

Funny how capricorns get known as the 'stick in the mud' sign, when that is not me at all. I shudder to think of caps with sun in 8th or 10th...
