Oh by far I prefer synastry. If I had to articulate why, I would say synastry compares to individuals and shows how they interact. With a composite, it really isn't anyone's chart, more like a step back from a real chart because it's a blend, you know? Also with a composite your dealing with midpoints and not the actual positions of the individual charts. I think composites are okay as a secondary method for gaining extra info. But if it's one or the other, for me it's no contest. (Disclaimer: I'm not a big fan of midpoints in general.I know they work, but I prefer to keep astrology simple and basic. Too many ingrediants make it messy.)IP: Logged |

I use both. Synastry to see how people react to one another and Composite to see where the relationship is headed.I find that even if you have GREAT synastry with someone, if you have a crappy composite, it's not a good relationship. Plus composites can show predictions too. Like I had amazing synastry with one of my exes (the one with Aspergers)... Sun conjunct DSC, a Moon/Moon conjunction, etc. In the composite, the Sun was unaspected in the 5th, Venus conjunct Neptune, and every other planet in the 6th. It felt very one sided and confusing. Like our relationship had no identity (we were never official, and no one outside of us really knew about US). Even though we cared for each other a lot, it was kind of doomed from the beginning I guess. Now, with my current boyfriend, we have Moon sextile Moon. But in our composite, the Moon is poorly aspected making squares to Saturn and Uranus. We're pretty off and on... always fighting and stuff. IP: Logged |

I prefer the Davison over the Composite. ------------------ Virgo Asc 6˚& Mars 0˚ Gemini Sun 24˚ Libra Moon 14˚(conjunct Pluto 0˚ in 2nd house) Gemini Mercury 25˚ Cancer Venus 29˚ And yes, i'm a guy! IP: Logged |

Hmmm. I don't like Davidson, but to each his own. I've noticed it works for some tho. I don't really do composites, but I've found they tell you something about the general tone of the relationship. Look for planets clustering in houses for a theme in the relationship.Leaping, when you go to asto.com and do a composite chart in the extended menu section, there's a drop down menu that lets you choose the kind of chart you want. Davidson is in there IP: Logged |

Synastry is the first step. A great synastry is the foundation for the relationship. The Composite will tell you how you will be affected as a relationship, as a pair. A great synastry can overcome the shortcomings of a crappy composite. A crappy synastry will not lead to a relationship itself unless forced due to circumstamces [peer pressure, parental pressure], and if such a relationship has a great composite, then it means the couple might grow in love later on in life. ------------------ http://www.tamsoft.co.in/articles.html IP: Logged |

leapinglemure14!many champion using composite, its more popular and it uses midpoint but davison is another chart, which instead of using midpoints between planets uses midpoint between date of birth and place of 2 individuals those who promote davison argue that this method is superior as it gives an actual time space chart whereas midpoint-composite is not an actual chart. eg in actual natal chart venus is never opposite sun, but in midpoint it can very well be....also some of its aspects are just mathematical certanity eg sun will always be near mercury...so no need to get excite if you have sun conjuct someones mercury i personally prefer davison...cause i dont know wht is mere mathematical 2+2 aspects in composite also an astrolger bob marker is great fan of davison and enciurages to compare natal with davison to see how it affects individuals..... anyway lot of time you will see many aspects repeat in davison, compoiste and synastry...which makes me kin a weary of these cmposite and davison techniques...maybe someone who is really a mathematical genius will roll his eyes and say.."dhaaaa....if these are the individual dobs....these aspects are going to show up and repeat..whts the big deal" i hope you will like me for confusing you further.... ------------------ asc/sun/moon: Capricon/leo/libra venus virgo Mars Taurus IP: Logged |
