okay so for some nutty reason i've hardly looked into jupiter and its role. i know that it is the first intermediate planet after the personal, but i've only really read about it in terms of where you derive your luck, blah blah blah.

but! i've gotten close to someone who's jupiter conjuncts my sun, mercury and mars in aquarius and i've felt a whole new energy that i've never felt before. he doesn't have any other air besides chiron, and his other placements aren't very aquarian in nature. and i've come to find that, at least with him, he seems most comfortable RELATING in a very aquarius-like manner. not that he behaves particularily aquarian, but when he's feeling most comfortable in interactions, the most basic aquarian ideals seem to be at play! and as such, i find i'm relating to him in a very intimate, understandable way (which in itself is a feat, considering the emotional aloofness of aquarius, generally speaking) that incorporates the sign.

so then i began to understand that this probably relates to jupiter's intermediacy. and being the first of the intermediates, and the giant that it is, it would seem to make sense that it have the most thrust and relevance in terms of interaction, and advancing the greatest good of any socal interaction.

haha maybe this is a well known part of jupiter that i've just never read about (honestly i don't think i've read anything other than sign descriptions on this planet until just the other day when i skimmed an article gemini lover sent me!). cuz yeah i could never quite reconcile the stuff about jupiter being an intermediate with the concept of luck and what comes to you.. (and so i dorkily did not look into it further. haha what can i say, i'm a rebel) being that it's expansive it seems to make sense that it's about interaction and how to best relate. ooh i'll go get the link of the article too.

anyway, can we talk about the intermediacy of jupiter? i'm fascinated!

There may be other reasons why your friend is more comfortable relating in an Aquarian manner other than Jupiter residing there. If Jupiter rules his 5th, 7th, or 11th Houses, then it has to do with relating. I think you're feeling it from him that way because in Synastry when someone's Jupiter conjuncts your Sun, it's one of the happiest friendships you're most likely to have and you're both feeling it in the Aquarian realm. That Jupiter in Aquarius is going to expand his feelings of friendship and humanitarianism, that might be why you're getting it as Jupiter having something to do with relating, but it's the Aquarian energy (related to the natural 11th house of friendships) that you're "relating" to.

Jupiter can bring you luck but it's also about expansion, enthusiasm, the higher mind in terms of philosophy, higher education, excess. With Jupiter you can have either Santa Claus or Jabba the Hut.

Last year around this time I did a short reading for someone in the Linda Land Central thread. Her husband was in the hospital with cancer of the spine. I saw that transiting Jupiter was approaching an important point in his chart and I couldn't say whether it would bring him luck or expand his tumors, and that's a very real situation when dealing with Jupiter sometimes. I'm very careful about assuming that luck will come. But I will say that it was lucky for her husband. He went into remission and he will soon be fine.

But Sun and Jupiter together is REWARD, it's The Oscar, it's Santa Claus. Jupiter is Zeus. I LOVE JUPITER!!! He's the man.

I bet you and your new friend will have great times together.

So I guess whatever signs/planets fall into our 5th, 7th, and 11th have to do with relating to others, and how we do it...like they set the tone? What about the 3rd? I thought that had to do with communication? Hmmmm.
What about if we don't have planets it those houses?

Aww, leaping, you're such a love

You know what I was curious about? Like if there's an order to relating in the houses...say, first we relate according to th 11th, and then the 5th, and then finally, the 7th, when we feel super close.
And if people's planets fall in those houses in synastry out of order, I wonder if they make the process different...like if someone's Sun were to fall into our 7th first, it might come off a little jarring. Especially if the 7th house cusp is in a sign that's hard to relate to immediately, like Capricorn or Scorpio.

Does that make sense?

You know I love you MVM.

True to your Virgo nature (and my Mercury-Saturn conjunction) you are overthinking it, but most people do. The answer is both. But there's no way to tell which planets affect you more; the planets in the houses or the planets that rule the houses. But I get more concrete results with the planets rule the houses.

For example, my 5th house is Virgo and I have Pluto-Uranus conjunct inside of it. But Mercury rules my 5th House. If I meet someone whose Venus conjuncts my Mercury, I'm all his. If someone has Sun conjunct my Pluto or Uranus in my 5th House, it's a different feeling. It's more playful, but it doesn't feel as romantic, except for the guy whose Venus was conjunct my Pluto in 5th House, yes, it was passionate love, but it didn't last long because his Venus was closer to my Uranus.

Leaping LOL. Welcome to my world

WOW. Thanks, Geo...
You know, I was wondering about this for synastry not long ago either, like if the rulers of planets of each of these houses are activated, how we'd react. For me, with Pluto on the 7th, it's like the more aspects my Pluto makes with someone, the more bound I feel. I mean, I know it's Pluto and all that, but it feels greater. Same for the 5th...my Sun feels like it needs aspects to it to feel stimulated. So it's just interesting!
This is so cool!

Man, no wonder I feel like a freak! I've got the Sun and Uranus on my 5th and 11th and seem all free-wheeling and optimistic and cheery with people, but the second they get into my 7th, it's like falling through a freakin' trap door with the Pluto and the Neptune insanity

i like Neptune pluto scares me.

but this is where it gets confusing for me a little...i have no planets in those houses, just planets nearby, and then depending on what house system i use i get sun in the 5...but Geo said that my moon rules it..

and i think we just hijacked this thread

I know, LOL
Leaping, you do have the Moon on the 5th. It's Cancer ruling your 5th, but your 5th house is predominantly also having Leo/the Sun in there.
That's what confuses me too with the house systems.
Erm...
Maybe we should start a new thread?

Heart Cakes, sorry we've taken over your thread!!!

geo!! thank you so much! i've been pretty much awol from LL for the past few weeks. as usual, your insights are spot on. PLEASE write a book! you know half of LL would buy it forsure. your writing style is so engagingly upbeat and ever-so-kooky, but with such a thread of common sense and practicality too. it's juuuust right.

what you wrote makes a lot of sense. acutally, his jupiter conjs my merc and mars by 3, and my sun by 7. but it's interesting cuz all of my three make a grand trine with his venus and chiron, so i feel like i activate his jupiter, but also somehow bring his jupiter in a little closer for him, if that makes sense (the grand trine is still there for him natally, but a wider orb). anyway, there is a lot of intellectual jubilation between us, that is forsure. nothing excessive a la jabba, just pleasantly plump.

lol i got jupiter Rx in the 11th house, which is ruled by acquarius so its a double whammy.

Lots of friends, in high and low places, all over the place. Too many acquaintances. 100s of them. Having sun AND mars in 3rd house which is ruled by gemini makes me social butterfly chatterbox along with moon in libra, which makes me totally sociable and in my element when im making social connections and partnerships b/w ppl.

But i have a very short list of ppl i have time for, who know me personally behind the public persona. Maybe thats to do with my cancer sun? The jupiter being Rx in the natal...that i gotta figure out a bit more.

:P
