I must decide whether I fancy myself a bud in wait or withered on the vine.

What placements/aspects may suggest a late bloomer?

Late bloomer in what area? I didn't "bloom" in many ways until last year..when I was 21. Is that considered late?

------------------
Capricorn sun / Scorpio rising / Sagittarius moon

Mercury:: Sagittarius
Venus::Scorpio
Mars::Pisces

I'm a late bloomer in general! I can't really say for sure what in my chart shows this. I know that Saturn can cause delays (in my chart it's in my 6th in a stellium that squares my Cap MC - talk about career delays, holy crap).

And comparing with the other replies, I'm a Virgo Sun with Venus Virgo (I didn't start dating till I was 21). No Saturn-Venus aspect though.

I was also thinking Uranus can delay things too, possibly indefinitely, depending on where it is. Plus, Uranus is all about false starts and quickly ending something as quickly as starting it.

Hmmmm... all good food for thought. My first thoughts were Saturn/Cap.

I have a t square with Saturn, Venus, and Uranus (Saturn opposing my Venus.) I have Mercury in Cap in the first house, although, technically, my 1st house is Sag.

I'm hoping I'm a late bloomer! Either that, or just a bigger loser than I expected to be.

I'm 32-- married, kids, house... but I still feel in many ways like I'm about 10 years behind my peers. Career/wealth-wise, mostly. I'm still working on my degree... should be finished up within the next 2 years.

I look a little bit younger than I am, and, romantically, I was more of a crocus.

Please... someone tell me there's hope! lol

You're ahead of me in those areas you mentioned. My parents had five kids by my age.

But I'm 32! I haven't even finished school yet, let alone know what I'm going to be when I grow up!

I'm having some 10th house-matter anxiety, I guess you could say...

I also just realized that Saturn aspects every planet in my chart. (This is using the default orbs at astro.com, which I think are a bit wide.)

Saturn is the only planet in my 8th house... death/mortality and career/wealth have been my 2 major anxieties lately. I can see how the two could go hand in hand, but this leads me to wonder if there is a transit aggravating my Saturn?

I'm not good with transits, so a bit of advice would be appreciated! Does it sound like I'm thinking in the right direction?

future..

I'm still blooming..lol
Virgo sun venus rx / Aries Saturn, Moon Cap rising.
Venus rx quincunx Saturn rx in their fall.
I'm just now getting there. Im almost 10 yrs older. I was just starting to have children around your age. I've always been late.. in getting on with life..
Its so Ironic and a cruel trick when one is ruled by the clock , very prompt and expect the same to some extent. To have to wait at all (Aries Moon) is sometimes overwhelming and causes a panic.
Just breathe. The moment you take your focus off of it.. the right things come your way.
I just had Saturn sweep my Stellium. I changed Careers and it changed my life.
It's hard to explain, but its like i "needed" all that "life" in order to bloom..

Nice, topshelf. Thanks for sharing your experience.

You're right on the money when you talk about the panic and impatience. I feel caught between two kinds of measures of time: the frame I "should" be on and the frame that feels right.

It's easy to pay lip service to just going with the flow and doing what feels natural, but in reality, this causes me some anxiety... more than I'd like to admit; until now, I felt pretty good about marching to my own drummer.

Is it a common phenomenon to feel a second surge of "peer pressure" or push for social conformity as one crosses into his or her thirties, similar to what one might feel during adolescence?

For me, weird questions, weird feelings, weird times.

I'd love to hear more... advice, experiences, whatever.

I think it's a capricorn/saturn thing.
As a capricorn with saturn prominent in my chart, I can tell you that life just gets better and better. Capricorn lives are said to be like that. Old when they are young and young when they are old. And the best things coming later in life.

But that's just it... I'm not a Capricorn! Sag sun, Sag asc, Libra moon.
So I'm looking for other excuses to fall back on.

I'm only kidding... I'm sincerely interested in learning whether or not this could be part of my astrological make-up.

You share an interesting similarity to a girl I was once involved with. You're both Sagittarius Suns, Sagittarius Ascendants, and you both have your natal sun/chart ruler, Jupiter, Retrograde in Taurus.

Jupiter and Saturn represent different attributes of growth, Jupiter is the experience, while Saturn is the lesson learned.

Considering that your natal chart has Retrograde Jupiter in a square to Retrograde Saturn, I'm sure there is conflict between the principles of these two planets. Experience and Maturation are sort of two sides of the same coin, and your sides are likely working at cross-purposes. There may be a feeling that when you indulge in the facets of one planet, the other one feels the pressure.

Your progressed ascendant is Capricorn, making Saturn the ruler of your progressed chart, where it is currently retrograde. And considering how slow Saturn is, it has likely never progressed into it's Direct motion since your birth.

Considering this, plus the Rx Jupiter square, it could certainly explain the possibility of late blooming.

Your progressed ascendant is actually at the 29th degree of Capricorn: about to move into Aqua, soon making your progressed chart ruler Uranus.

Uranus is in your 10th house natally, the house of career, among other things. Not surprisingly, the current imminence of this progression could bring matters of career into particular concern.

Uranus is brilliant, but unfortunately, a grand disruptor. In the Placidus house system, your progressed Uranus has exited the tenth house, into the ninth, and thus moving away from your MC. In corroboration with it natally ruling your 2nd house (possessions), I imagine you *might* experience more upheaval than solidification in matters where career and possessions are concerned.

Uranus has little care for possessions, and becoming your chart ruler, now in the 9th house, with Pisces on your 2nd house cusp, you very well may be more involved in higher ideals to worry about many possessions anyway. But I know you have children to worry about.

If career is the important issue, try to synthesize these points:
1) Your natal 10th house cusp is Libra, ruled by Venus. Venus is natally found in Aquarius: your imminent progressed ascendant, with Uranus your soon-to-be progressed chart ruler.
2) Uranus was in Scorpio at the time of your birth, Scorpio is now your progressed 10th house cusp, ruled by Pluto, natally found in Libra.

It may be easier to understand if you run a progressed chart and compare it to your natal.

But you see there's a trend, or a circulation, surrounding Libra, Scorpio, and Aquarius, where typical career indicators are highlighted. I suggest reading up on careers attributed to these 3 signs and their respective planets, and seeing if any subject inspires you towards further research.

Scorpionic Web... you just introduced me to a boatload of new ideas. I really appreciate you taking the time to answer my question in this much depth. What you are saying makes a lot of sense and I can't wait to investigate this further so I can understand the methods better. Many, many thanks.

Scorpionic Web: This, especially, stood out to me.

quote:
There may be a feeling that when you indulge in the facets of one planet, the other one feels the pressure.

I've actually been saying this lately, but in other words. The simplest way I can describe it is that I feel the need to continue to explore less mainstream ways of life, however, I feel almost self-conscious about not living up to the white picket fence ideal that so many of my peers have found themselves in. (Lindaland company excluded, of course!) This particular voice is foreign to me, but heavy. I've never tried to have that kind of life, and now, somehow, I feel I have failed??? It's a bit disconcerting, to say the least.

It's a strange feeling... for most of my life I've been blissfully leading my own tambourine parade, then suddenly I care that I haven't done something more sensible, even though, in spirit, I oppose that sort of thing.

I've got to tell ya, I'm not a fan of all this...

Future:

Sounds very appropriate. With your progressed Capricorn ascendant now in its "weak" 29th degree and void-of-course (makes no more aspects before shifting signs), Uranus, the epitome of unconventionality, is about to become your chart ruler and likely already beginning to tug at "offbeat" urges, some of which you may have always had.

quote:
however, I feel almost self-conscious about not living up to the white picket fence ideal that so many of my peers have found themselves in

I suggest you follow your nonconformist urges because rebellious Uranus will likely force some manifestation whether you embrace it or not. And from my personal experience, placing a Sagittarius woman under duress often results in big problems anyway. Your family may not understand it, but hopefully they'll accept it or maybe even embrace it as well.

And Future, I'm happy to help. I've always been interested in your chart.

Besides, viewing your placements and offering my thoughts might just somehow help me gain further understanding of what was my own Sag Sun, Sag Asc, Taurus Jupiter Retro experience.

I was an early bloomer with men/looks/etc but a late-bloomer with my career. I'm just starting to get known for my "real work" now, at 34, and I won't be very famous till 50 ( )!

I have Cap rising and a Saturn-heavy chart. My 1st Saturn Return was deeply revelatory and transforming.

Please feel free to ask any questions that may arise as you contemplate your own experiences with the Sag who shares my placements.

Thanks again... this has been a huge comfort for me. I feel like I've found a door in the wall.

I'll be coming back to these posts again and again, I'm sure.

I am a late bloomer too. I think that it's reflected by my being an Outer Planet Person but also a Kuiper Belt Object person. I am very strong in both outerplanet and kuiper belt energy

I was born on the 29th day too

"You are usually a late bloomer. Your early and middle 30s tend to be years spent in apprenticeship and slow development. During this period, you can become frustrated with your progress, or the apparent lack of it." http://www.decoz.com/BdCard29.htm
