Okay, so asteroid Nessus currently is discussed in at least two different threads. These are the links to the original threads:
http://www.linda-goodman.com/ubb/Forum24/HTML/000544.html
http://www.linda-goodman.com/ubb/Forum24/HTML/000603.html

Since I am still learning on the impact of asteroids, I opened this special NESSUS-thread now - because this Nessus seems to be a very special (nasty?) thing.;-) I wonder what your experiences with Nessus are. Maybe someone has some background-info to post here, some links or anything like that?

In my own love life, my latest relationship to a (mentally abusive/manipulative) man who still somehow ist "stalking" me was quite heavily influenced by strong Nessus-conncetions in our Synastry. The obscure thing is: My own Nessus makes more connections to his chart than vice versa. Here are our placements. Maybe someone (DARKDREAMER) can add some thoughts to this?

Both our Nessus'ses are in Gemini.

In HIS Chart Nessus is placed in his 9th house - cj. his NN, cj. his Psyche, cj. his Sun/Chiron and cj. his Sun/Eros.

In Synastry HIS Nessus
- cj. my Karma (exact)
- cj. my Chronos (exact)
- cj. my Juno/Vertex (exact)
- sextiles my Mercury
- sextiles my Chiron
- sextiles my Venus/Vertex (exact)
- sextiles my Don Quixote
- trines my Lust
- trines my Sun/Moon (exact)
- squares my North Node
- squares my Helena
- squares my Amazone
- opposite my Phoinix
- opposite my Change

In MY chart my Nessus is placed in my 7th house - cj. Mars/Juno, cj. my draco Saturn.

In Synastry MY Nessus
- cj. his MC (exact)
- cj. his Anteros (exact)
- cj. his Romance (exact)
- sextile his Moon
- sextile his Actor
- sextile his Martir
- sextile his Chaos
- sextile his Pandora
- trine his Cupido
- trine his Amazone
- trine his Poseidon
- trine his Damocles
- square his Saturn
- square his Pluto
- square his ASC/DSC
- square his Chiron
- square his Eros
- square his Fanatica
- square his Humptydumpty (exact)
- square his Nemesis
- square his Venus/Uranus
- opposite his IC
- opposite his Venus/Vertex
- opposite his Mars/Juno

Interesting: Both our Mars/Juno and Venus/Vertex-Midpoints are touched by the other's Nessus - and also "Amazone", the self-confident, adventurous woman ....?

How about Nessus conjunct North Node synastry?

Would that mean the Nessus person brings doom to the NN person?

Maybe Nessus unlocks abusive patterns and makes us address something in ourselves.

Alvarella,

Nessus is moving very slowly, so the orbs need to be very tight.

But he can mean either a place in the chart where you become the victim of abuse or become abusive yourself. At least I have read that somewhere.

Nessus is a nasty one, and relates to manipulation and abuse.

But I also found him to have aspects in relationships which are not abusive.
my Mum`s Nessus squares my DAd`s Vensu I think. And they really are a happy couple.
BUT what is true is that my Mum can be pretty moody, posessive and tends to feel hurt or treated unfairly easily (by such things as my DAd doing some work on the computer and therefor not spending his time with her; on the other hand IF he is spending too much time with her, it`s sometimes too much for her, too).

It`s not always easy to deal with her, as if she sometimes tends to withdraw her affections, threatening to not talk to him right now, cause he knows it all better anyway, as he had clearly stated.
Well, often I have been sitting beside them, listening to their talk, and usually I donīt get what he has been doing wrong either.
The good thing is that they talk about it very quickly and it`s really nothing too big; usually they get along greatly.
And they are one of the few older couples Iknow (married for over 30 years), who are still talking to each other all the time (very rarely watch TV, if together, mostly talking talking talking) and who are still physically affectionate, holding hands etc.

So, even though Nessus has the potential to mean much harm, it doesn`t need to be this way, if you deal with it in a mature way.
Of course if other constellations afflict that Nessus-Venus-thingy it could get difficult.
In the case of my parents: my Mumīs Nessus squares my Dad`s Venus, which squares my Mum`s Mercury

So it is no wonder that their "power-plays" are being carried out on the ground of communication (Mercury).

Maybe the afflicted planet which aspects Nessus, would be a hint to how the dynamic plays out?

My own experiences with Nessus have come up in my old thread..
http://www.linda-goodman.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/014837.html

Also , my mom's nessus conjuncts my Venus-chiron conunction - she is the wound that will never heal - but that was what set me off on my own Plutonian journey and i dont regret it one bit.

My twin soul has his nessus conjunct my nemesis conjunct his ascendent. We havce spent 5 live stogether - each ended in thye most heartbreaking way possible - i thrice died prematurely in his arms and he is still damaged by that - i am his nemesis and when he meets me his won plutonian odyssey will start - lets see how he takes it.

Heaven or Hell ?

The line is too thin

If this is any help, here's the info on Nessus that I've gathered (so far) from various websites:

7066 Nessus:

Nessus runs between just outside Saturn and beyond Neptune towards Pluto and has a period of 124 years. It signifies emotions and psychological urges of which consciousness would be personally liberating and beneficial; self-liberation through the embracing of one's less accepted inwardly burning emotions as a valid component of self; the tendency to interpret the present through the filter of psychological complexes inherited from the past; awareness of the patterns of interaction between people, locations and matter; deep-seated psychological motivations (including vengeance and recompense for and transition from past hurts) for sexual desire and lust; the development of integrity and self-empowerment; levels of personal empowerment or disempowerment conditioned by past experiences with others; illusory promises of salvation whose unveiling is liberating and protecting; and repercussions of treachery and power misuse.

The awareness of our vulnerability against darkness, abuse, and emotional death. The return of karma; situations that travel circular paths, or extend with unforeseen consequences. Conspiracy with a point of origin. The healing of abuse, including insidious kind that doesn't seem like much, until one looks closely; and the kind that was obviously so, but potentially overlooked. Nessus talks about abuse patterns in the family of origin, and how they manifest psychologically in adults.

*****************************************

Robert Von Heeren:
* A connection with strong and powerful emotions, affects, passions and jealousy reveal a relation between Nessus and Pluto

* Nessus is probably the strongest Centaur among the first three, and often a "nasty" guy

* the feeling to do something "rightous" even if it's cruel (assassins or intruders often think so) and in the worst case an absolute unhuman, blind fanatism

* to be forced to deep and sudden (this is non-Plutonian!) transformation by intense and sudden shock and pain

* the boomerang-effect: bad actions done in the past, catch us up (some karma-circle)

* a clear tendency to over-react, to crack up, to have hysterics, to run amok, to explode emotionally, because someone hits/hurts you at the very nerve. For a moment you feel hot and not like yourself.

* Panic attacks (as a result of anxiety against deep affects)

* the theme-complex of intrigue and conspiracy: treachery, trick, to take advantage of other's weakness. Revenge, lie and falsehood

* Nessus joins us with occult primordial forces and energies, which go far beyond our mental, conscious and intellectual capacity for understanding. Therefore we first experience fear until we understand it later.

* the border(-line) to madness. See for example movies like "Mad Max", "Lethal Weapon", "Die Hard", where brute force in combination to super-natural self-control with madness is shown (there is also a relation to Asbolus I think).

* to overcome anxiety and force with the mean of nearly super-natural will, strength and braveness

* there seem to be some relation between Nessus and longterm skin deseases: nettle rash, strong itching, pain, burning of the skin, high sensitivity against sunrays, pustules, growth (often connected with troubles in relationships) and allergies

* Nessus opens us the gate into Hades, the death and Pluto's underworld, towards the shadow-world of ghosts and lost souls.
But it also reveals the other, light and good side of the so-called "evil". It's only a denied and repressed, undissolved, "dark" shadow-like energy of the soul, which needs to be re-integrated into our personality to be complete and healthy/authentic (this shows us the closeness of Nessus to Pluto).

* There is an obvious parallel between Nessus and the fairy man Charon. Therefore I think Nessus is a leader and guide to hidden and deep energies of regeneration and rebirth and therefore Pluto's helper or preparer in this way and process.

* Maybe Nessus has a connection to psychosis and schizophrenia

*****************************************

Laurence Lucas: "Inadvertent contracts, blood contracts, ancestral obligations, secret societies, blood rituals, Darkbody, inner rage, dark phantasies, forgotten and rediscovered old dusty futurism, inter-species contracts, releasing outworn contracts from energy field, unmanifest monsters, reptilian shadow, everyone responsible to some extent for planetary darkness, inadvertently responsible, commercial repercussions of how we spend our money."

*****************************************

Juan Antonio Revilla: "Keywords: negation, smallness. abuse, horror, obscurity. blackness or nigredo, death. the delicacy and sensibility of the flower, the fragility of life, nastiness, manipulation, cruelty. weakness, morbidity. the strength that is found in weakness. a guardian at the threshold. simple, dark, infinite. terrible and beautiful in its fragility. paradox of beauty and ugliness, the Beauty and the Beast. a sphinx, an owl."

*****************************************

Nessus in a chart brings up old issues of grief and loss thought to be buried long ago, which erupt in a monstrous or poisonous way... Nessus is the pitchblack face of Pluto made manifest through Saturn. The final outcome is gaining immortality."

Nessus is a planet that addresses the healing of abuse patterns. The abuse can be psychological, physical or sexual in nature; it can be 'potentially inappropriate' contact or behavior; and it can involve revenge. Nessus has themes that feel like 'the return of karma' and what goes around comes around. Actions have consequences, but you can almost always discover the source. Nessus is a very good diagnostic tool in handling situations with these themes. It shows us where and how we've been hurt in the past, and how we're likely to hurt others -- and how we can heal those hurts.

Nessus is about power dynamics and the dynamics of abuse, very important themes today in the western world, as we discover we were all abused as kids (and I mean it). Power and abuse dynamics always appear in relationships first, then they appear in one's inner emotional patterning, and the relationship pattern of that lifetime. Nessus tells us that physical abuse and psychological abuse work about the same way, and reminds us that quite often psychological abuse is more insidious because so often we don't know it's happening and we don't think it happened. One question of Nessus is, "did the abuse happen?"
Nessus can point to the circumstances that surround rape, incest, sexually transmitted diseases and, moreover, the relationship patterns that create these things. Put two charts together and you can see something about how these dynamics appear between people. Nessus can be used to investigate the lives of our parents and their relationships to others in the family. In most of our charts, Nessus is in a conjunction to another Centaur named Hylonome (hy-la-na-me).

From http://www.planetwaves.net/contents/nessus_notes.html:

That Nessus is a centaur is primary.

Melanie Reinhart: "Nessus is 'the buck stops here.' Nessus works much like a super-Chiron focused specifically on the dynamics of abuse. In all cases this abuse is psychological and in most it is not properly identified as what it is; rather, we experience it as "the way things are" and, more to the point, as the way WE are. But we are how we are because of the way we were treated when we were growing up."

TIGERLILLY: Thanks a lot for sharing this material with us! It seems to be very (!) helpful - I just don't have much time today, but will check in tomorrow again and will study it more thoroughly then.

DARKDREAMER: Thanks to you too - for these insights you shared with me/us - and also for your reply in your own, orginial post dealing with Proserpine! Very gracious that you took the time to deal with my Synastry-placements there.

VENUSDEINDA: And thanks to you for calling our attention to your thread too. Will give it a visit soon.

Have to keep it short for now - but will be back soon!;-)

VENUSDEINDA: I just read some material from the thread you had mentioned above. Huh - all that "twin soul"-talk.

That Ex-Bf and mine ... we definitely seem to have a past life story then. No draconic or other extra-methods needed. Just in our "regular" synastry we have the following.

My PLUTO cj. his VENUS (orb 2)
My N.N. cj. his VERTEX (orb 1)
My KARMA cj. his N.N. (orb 1)
His VALENTINE opposing my VERTEX (orb 1)
... and about a dozen more of such "karmic" connections.

But still ... even if you rate aspects like these as "karmic" = there's nothing said about the outcome! That means: The story doesn't neccessarily end happy or resolved in this life - right? ;-)

Tigerlilly That Nessus is a centaur is primary. Melanie Reinhart says Nessus is "the buck stops here".
quote from link is by Eric Francis=Nessus works much like a super-Chiron focused specifically on the dynamics of abuse. Abuse and the healing of abuse. I have Nessus Conj Mercury / Ceres on the SN. Trine Jupiter. I experienced much psychological abuse growing up. The physical abuse goes away over time. I am also capable of verbal abuse myself. If you are raised so, you carry on learned patterns. I have consciously chosen to change that. My NN in Scorpio opposing that tradition. To let go of past abuse patterns.

Thanks, Node. I edited my Nessus post to cite the reference (I had forgotten to write it down when I was compiling the info).

Venusdeinda: I agree to 100%!

That's why I get such a weird feeling with the extensive "twin soul"/"soul mate"-talk around here. I believe, the respective aspects themselves tell nothing about the actual quality of a relationship, or whether there's any possibility of a happy ending or not. Just seeing some so called "soul mate"-aspects doesn't provide any solution. Some people seem to feel some relief or "proof" or "guarantee" when they detrace such factors in their synastry ... But I guess, this relief is not always justified.;-) I really don't want to act as a "wet blanket" here, but: In my case, this was the first relationship loaded with "soul mate"/"twin soul"-factors in my whole life (I am 38 years old) - and at the same time the most hurting and confusing love I ever experienced. Makes sense ... in a way. But didn't make me "happy".;-)
