Hi all! Do you know someone that has one quality (cardinal, fixed, mutable) overwhelmingly dominant in their chart? What's your experience with them like? This is my observation, not sure if it's true:

1. The girl i'm seeing has 7/10 planets in mutable signs. Probably because of the adaptability, seems that she doesn't feel like she needs to do anything because whatever happens, it's fine with her. She'll adapt. For example, she told me "if it's (our relationship) meant to be, it's meant to be" and she doesn't do anything to proactively make it better. I agree that at times things might not turn out as we wish, but damn I always try my best before leaving it to god. Lots of mutable = lack of personal will?

2. My dad has 6/10 planets in cardinal signs. He jumps into a lot of things and rarely follows through. He once decided to fix our motobike, opened it up and left it opened for a year...lol. Seems that if things aren't going quickly, he looses focus quickly.

How much of each quality do you think is good?

Ten doesn't divide by three into a whole number, so we can't have any true equal balance. Something is going to be more than the other.

How much is too much? That's subjective.

What's the plus side of the imbalance you have observed?

Flexibility is a great quality to have in an uncertain world. Is she good at dealing with unforseen circumstances?

Maybe your father gets paid to come up with clever ideas with the details left to someone else somewhere else.

I'd say look at the positive side of her mutability. As others have said, she can adapt to any situation, so she isn't the sort that throws temper tantrums when things don't go her way. She has a laidback attitude, so you don't have to worry about her becoming psychotic or overly possessive.

She's already learned that relationships are unpredictable. Some people work "hard" at their relationship only to find it falling apart. And what exactly does "working hard on the relationship" mean exactly?

Do you guys spend enough time together and enough time apart so as to truly appreciate each other? Do you remember each other's birthdays, anniversary, little known facts about each other (if you've known each other for a while)? Do you both show consideration for each other and treat each other with respect? Most importantly, you have an open line of communication? This last one is really important. If you can't communicate your needs to each other, then the relationship will fail.

If you feel your relationship has the characteristics I listed, then why worry? If your relationship is lacking anything I listed or something else that you feel is important, then tell your girlfriend! The great thing about very mutable people is that they can take things in stride. They can handle constructive criticism and won't go nuclear on you if you express any disappointment. Tell her specifically what you think that you both should do to make the relationship better. She'll adapt and you'll both be happy.

i dont think too much of a quality is necessarily bad, but the real lack of an element I find problematic. I have a very cardinal chart, 5 of my planets plus my ascendnat are all in cardinal signs. I also have a strong mutuable influence. But apart from one single outer planet, i have basically no fixity in my chart. My cardinal and mut. influence make me jump into new things, head first. I'll never say no to trying new things and I can deal with 'change of plans' situations quite well. So i'm very good at planning and beginning things, i'm very creative in these initial stages, they really give me a buzz. And there have to be many different things, that are happening at the same time to keep me interested. But that lack of fixity has given me a hard time throughout my life, god, finishing things is very, very difficult for me. My intentions are always good, but let's face it I'm a planner, thinker, strategist, but if you want it to be actually finished....well.

Or,

even though she may be predominantly 'mutable' check the houses.

A mutable stellium or planets in fixed houses can take others by surprise. The person is very receptive but on the bottom line she is dead fixed.

An example, she may let you freely swim the line out giving you the impression that she is laidback and very tolerant; then suddenly you're all out of line and she's not reeling you back in. Then you had better be a pretty good swimmer to get yourself back and in the meantime not get yourself all tangled up in the line in the process, lol.

I have 5 cardinal, 3 mutable, and 2 fixed. i like it since my BIG 3 have a sign from each modality...but but but! if i didnt have that fixed fire rising, oh my ~ i could definitely see myself starting 10 million things and not finishing a one! so with a lil bit o' fixed, i can happily say that I finish 1/2

what about that train of thought:

fixed likes mutable because it tones 'em down --> mutable likes fixed because it gives them a form to aim for --> cardinal likes fixed to give them more focus.

being primarily cardinal i am attracted to fixed natures, often. envious, actually.

I'm mostly mutable and cardinal with only two fixed planets and I can relate to all of this.

its probably not terrible, but as opposed to good, its definitley not good i don't think, but i think too much mix isn't good either, a nice share of two types is probably best, but i don't know for sure.

iv got 6 planets in cardinal, 2 in fixed, 2 in mutable.

for 'energies', my asc/dsc is fixed. my mc/ic is cardinal.

if chiron counts, i have 7 planets in cardinal :/

if were only talking main planets (sun/merc/mars/venus/moon and jupiter) then i have 1 fixed, 2 mutable, 3 cardinal.
