What is everyones opinion on a synastry chart with a 50/ 50 mix of squares and flowing aspects compared to a synastry chart that is mostly flowing. Would the smoother relationship becaome dull and passionless after a while? Would all of the squares lead to sparks or a short lived relationship?IP: Logged |

I think this really depends on the two people and their individual charts.Squares, and the frustration/challenges they bring, can send harmony-seeking people who like peace and pleasantness fleeing. But for a person with a chart full of squares and lots of Saturn aspects, they can create a sense of determination to stick it out and surpass the frustrations. And for people with heavily Plutonian charts, Mars aspects, and Hades Moons (see the Hades moon thread) the challenge/friction can seem erotic. It also depends very much not only on the specifics of each natal chart and the house overlays in the synastry, but also the details of each harmonious or challenging aspect, and how they work together. A 50-50 mix could translate into a lifelong romance or two ships passing in the night, depending on the details. (With one exception possibly being a bunch of Uranus squares, conjunctions, and oppositions...and other that that, trines or no contact between other planets...that would probably lead to an inescapably short-lived thing.) If you're asking about specific people, post the chart! Let's have a look.IP: Logged |

Ann, for some reason those links also log me into your astro account. Best to take them down and save the charts as images. As for the original question, most synastry charts include harmonious and "harsh" aspects, and it's hard to find a synastry chart between a real couple that has no squares or oppositions. Of course, flowing aspects are supportive but they really deal with preserving and maintaining the momentum that would be created by other so-called "harsh" aspects between two people. IP: Logged |

See, with the first, there are quite a few indicators of abiding attraction or connectedness, like a nice Sun-Venus conjunction (although this could change--becoming a wider or tighter orb--with a right birth time), plenty of Saturn action (including a Node-Saturn conjunction)...and attraction: Mars-Venus sextile, Mars-Pluto conjunctuion...but overall, a Scorpio-Sag relationship is pretty challenging. The people both have to be just crazy about each other to make it work. Even with the Moon-Moon trine to ease it up, it would take determination. Some of the squares (the Sun-Mars double whammy, Moon-Mercury, and Mars-Mercury) are more yucky than sexy, exacerbating the frustration and communication problems a Scorp-Sag couple would have. With the second, the Sun-Venus conjunction is a double-whammy, which might do more to ease up communication and friendliness between the two (along with Moon-Moon trine, Sun-Moon trine, Mars-Jupiter conjunction.)
If I had to guess from a very quick glance, chart #1 would give both people more of an intense, karmic feeling and be more frustrating...chart #2 would be more harmonious, but feel less important. Also with chart #2...those Neptune conjunctions could leave R with a lot of fantasies/illusions/false ideas about John. IP: Logged |

I heart you, Lucia I don't want chart #2 to be more important. Chart #1 is mine with him and you described everything to a T! Chart #2 scares me because they are so comaptiable with all of the romantic undertones. I'm a scorp so I tend to get a little bit (a lot) weird about stuff. #2 is a Scorp as well. I do have Sag rising so I'm hoping that helps. I get scared because he is a Sag after all and he also has a tight venus/ mars square in his natal chart. I should probably step away from the key board now as I'm really getting skitzy, lol. (Typical scorp feeling threatened and over analyzing)IP: Logged |

Chart #2's Venus square both Uranus and Saturn is interesting...usually that's an indicator of love (of any kind, not just romantic) springing up when you didn't want it to. I agree that R's Neptune conjunct the Sun/Mercury is a dangerous toy, R may be putting John on a pedestal, especially if this relationship is or has the potential to be romantic. It looks like John's Saturn is loosely conjunct R's south node, which can produce a feeling of fatedness, but not expecially a feeling as if they should get together. The romantic undertones you speak of have to be from the sun/venus conjunctions, and also the mars/jupiter aspect makes it easy for them to have fun together. In Chart #1, the Saturn/North Node double whammy would be a tough nut to crack, even if the conjunction is a little loose. Both of your senses of future direction and life path are right in tune with your sense of commitment to each other. What concerns me more than any of the aspects is that John's moon doesn't form any major aspects to your planets. This synastry doesn't show a lot of emotional response from him. If your relationship is long-term, a look at your composite chart may provide further answers. IP: Logged |

Thank you, Wal. as far as the moon placement and emotion go, he is very sweet and nurturing even sensitive when it comes to me, at least at this point in our relationship. I'm not sure of his exact time of birth so I don't know the houses for the composite but I do know that we have so great aspects regardless of how ai place the time. Venus conjucts the sun, mercury and mars and sextiles pluto and uranus. Jupiter conjuncts pluto and trines the moon. I think those are pretty good but I'm still learning. :/IP: Logged |

Those aspects are good in the composite, and you will also want to look at composite Saturn as well if you are concerned abotu stability. About the moon, I do believe that he is probably extremely nurturing and sensitive with that placement in Cancer, but he may feel, if that is the location of his moon in fact, as if sometimes his emotional side is left out of the picture in the relationship. It is hard for me to visually tell, but on astro.com when you are creating your chart, if you check the box that says "draw lines to all aspects" or something like that, you can see aspects that have a slightly larger orb but are worth a look. It is inaccurate for me to say anything about his moon really if there is no birth time, it is just possibilities right now.IP: Logged | |
