well you can always skip them, can't you? people post replies there, it means they actually like them; they are fun imopersonally, I get annoyed by 'what do you see in our synastry/is he the one?' types of threads but I just ignore them, am trying to follow my Libran NN, lolz IP: Logged |

idk my main beef with them is that its hard to guess signs just based on looks. the descriptions of them are so eurocentric.IP: Logged |

haha poor thing added* but most of all I dislike sun sign generalizing threads, like why Taureans are so gready / Scorpios vengeful / Aquas insensitive etc. IP: Logged |

Peri, I agree they must be fun for many people. But why not bump a guess thread? At certain times we go thru this 'guess' business and then we will have 5 or more new post's jumping on the train. Why the necessity of a new thread is my question. And WS, they come and go.. right now it seems to be hot. I confess I don't 'get it' either...absolutely no interest. But I wouldn't want this to become as rigid as A.com either. *adding too And I agree that there is little concrete evidence about risings / appearance. IP: Logged |

See, this is the kind of thing that could be solved with some simple organization. There used to be a problem with private reading requests--now they have their own forum section--those of us who are into them can participate (I personally love giving/getting personal readings), while others can now much more easily ignore them.Similarly, there could be a photos and guesses section to make it easier for interested people to participate, and keep others from having to wade through these threads. There could also be separate "Help analyze our synastry" and "Help analyze my natal chart" and "Sun Signs" and "Love Signs" and "Advanced Astrological Questions" and "Aspects" and "House Placements" sections. Posters with duplicate or off-topic posts could be gently referred to the right section by moderators. And it would be especially great if posts/thread topics that have nothing to do with astrology whatsoever were moved to a different section. IP: Logged |

There is a Personal Readings forum which no one seems to really use. I assume that its original intent was to keep the individual chart questions out of this forum. In fact, there is also a Soul Unions forum but most of the romantic stuff still ends up here...Because I personally do not feel that there is any strong, absolute connection between natal astrology and appearance I also don't participate in those threads. Writesomething, feel free to start an in depth conversation and I will gladly participate if I feel I can contribute. IP: Logged |

I feel like LL is a lot more lighthearted now, (not saying that's a good or bad thing) then when I first joined on. Before it was very formal and many shared stories of deep struggles and conflicts in one's life, which lead to deeper threads and feedback. It had a more serious tone. Now everyone seems to share their happy, fun stories, and we get to laugh about good times together.I actually enjoy guessing people's ascendants, even though I'm really bad at it. LOL! I also like seeing pictures as I get to put a face to the name. Some threads I look at, some I don't. I think it's all preference, and choice. What is this about birth times not mattering? Is that on astro.com somewhere? I always thought it was important because you need to know the house positions. IP: Logged |

I think Peri has it spot on. If you don't like a thread, don't participate. I'm not a fan of the generalised threads either. The ones that irk me are the threads that really push the limits as to what astrology can and can't answer/solve. There's only so many times you can say that astrology doesn't hold the key to that issue. It's easier to avoid the threads you don't like. Simple.IP: Logged |

Ever since I read for someone I know and he had his birth time only five minutes wrong and it moved his Sun-stellium from the 7th to the 6th house (he got his birth certificate...the 7th house placements make sooo much more sense), I've been very gung-ho about having an exact birth time. I also love house overlays in synastry and transit readings, and find them very informative. But I've never posted info on here about someone unless they gave me their birth info and, when I asked, "Hey, sometimes I post on astrology websites anonymously, is it okay to ask questions there about your chart?" they said Yes. Agreed, but sometimes it's hard to weed through all the threads. A little basic organization would help.

YES. It's one thing to post celebrity pics--they are already in the public domain, and most celebs have money, staff, and resources to keep a buffer between them and fans. But posting pics of a classmate, neighbor, or someone you have a crush on but haven't spoken to, without permission? It violates their privacy.

I'd actually prefer if they would just put up their details of the chart and photo (with their consent). Then I could analyse the chart and figure out why they look like that in first place IP: Logged |

i agree with what your saying, they certainly are a fun 'game' though perhaps another section for them in the forums? if not, then maybe not continue with these topics about guessing the signs..

Wah wah wah.Just don't read them. These threads can be helpful too, at least they are to me. Sometimes there's new info and -why not- some potential wisdom in them. quote: TRUST ME...I TRY! LOL...
Keep trying then.

Actually, one thing about the guess the signs posts. I can't stand it when someone asks and then reveals some time later that they don't actually know after everyone has spent time guessing and waiting to find out if they're right. Say it at the beginning - please.IP: Logged |

quote: Green- I wasnt targeting you if thats what you were thinking. I wasnt targeting anyone in particular.. Do you honestly think its right to post someone's pic without their permission? its almost creepy in a way to be discussing someone with their chart and pic without permission. I just dont think its right for one...and it doesnt really help the depth of astrology discussions. The discussions about if someone looks like an aries ISNT helpful. Its superficial and stupid.
You obviously haven't thought about it enough then. Newsflash, once you determine the ASC [hello, appearance], it's easier to have a better idea of one's chart/potential personality. We all have different ways of learning about astrology, fun threads can be helpful too. Not everyone knows about progressed charts, stelliums, obscure asteroids and other "profound" mumbo jumbo. Some of you really need to get off your high horse, unless you're professionals or something. That kind of snobbish attitude won't get this board anywhere, it only turns people off from participating. To sum up, if you don't like something, don't read it.

maybe a one 'sticky' thread would be best for these guessing sign topics?thats one thing i don't understand about this forum, it seems to lack features of many forums iv seen before - like locking topics, creating 'sticky' topics etc. do these features exist for admins/mods? IP: Logged |

This forum has the ability for Mods to lock topics. However, there are no stickies, which would be handy. And only the LL forum's Mod can do anything to the posts in their forum -- the Mods of other LL forums can't move posts, etc.Other forums I've been to have sub-forums in a category, and I think that's a great organizational tool, but we don't have that here.
