OK i know we have done synastry to death but i'd like to start this thread to analyse and look at everyone's synastry with the following rules:(if this has been done before then i'm really sorry) CONJUNCT - only use up to 2' aspects OPPOSITION - only use up to 2' aspects SQUARE - only use 0' aspects TRINE - only use up to 1' aspects QUINCUNX - only use up to 1' aspects no sextiles or other aspects. Plus any parallels/contraparallels up to 3'. you can use all planets, asteroids except the mythical or historic ones. Who wants to have a go at this? I'm interested to see what is important. planets or asteroids or both. I'll go and do mine now. DD, i hope you join in with Jude and maybe we can look at a few famous couples too like Melanie Griffiths etc. IP: Logged |

I'm not sure I have the right ones. Here are all the aspects. His True Node conjuncts my Mars Hi Mercury conjuncts my Asc Hi Chiron opposing my Uranus His Mars squares my Sun Hi Mars trines my Uranus His Chiron in Quincunx with my Pluto His True Node trines my Uranus Oh, crap, I just realized you wanted all the asteroids too. I'm bad at this... IP: Logged |

I don't understand these rules...shouldn't the orbs get narrower based on the speed that the planet/asteroid moves through space? So, a wider orb for Sun-Moon aspects, a narrower one for outer planets/asteroids? IP: Logged |

hmmm good point Lucia. Lets wait for DD to come along and correct me I was basing it on the most potent aspects with a wider orb and the less potent/hard ones with a smaller orb. Maybe i'm wrong? IP: Logged |

Lara, what asteroids do you mean? They are almost all from myths except for Lust maybe? I agree on your take on orbs, they are tight enough to show where the real focus lies. I`m not completely sure why you use only 0° fro square but 1° for trine though. Because quinkunx and trine are wider angles? and Square is only 90°? Anyway we are talking about the degrees that appear in the astro.com`s table, right? But what about parallels and contraparallels, we are not talking about 3 degrees here?. Do you mean 30 seconds or 18 seconds as orb for parallel / contraparallel?

Hi DDSorry, i was tired and didn't explain myself well I mean karma/valentine/eros/psyche etc yet not including the egyptian nor irish themed asteroids. I used 0' for square as it is a stressful aspect, whereas quincunx and trine are creative. Shall we just say 0' for all aspects? or 1'? Are there any other degrees apart from the astro table? I'm unaware of them parallel and contra, l meant 1.2. So, look at declinations. Example 2'00'54 and 3'20'37 are in orb but 2'00'54 and 3'26'37 aren't What orbs and asteroids do you think we should use. I'm only using vertex and juno as additional objects. IP: Logged |

Hi Lara,I`d say 2° are fine for conjunction and opposition and 1° for the other aspects. If we reduce the orb for the challenging aspects, but leave the orb for the harmonious ones bigger, we will of course almost always find more harmonious aspects than challenging ones, and that would distort the result. So we have for the more harmonious aspects trine and conjunction (1° and 2°) and for the challenging ones square and opposition (1° and 2°) and the quinkunx is somehow flipping between both sides. So, I think that is a good symmetry. For asteroids I am using: Juno, Karma, Eros, Psyche, Cupido, Amor, Valentine, Aphrodite, Adonis, Lust and Black Moon Lilith (even though it is not really an asteroid) and Chiron. I`d like to include Vertex, but astro.com won`t let me, and I am not giving up Cupido!! :stamping foot like a little child:
So if I got that right an orb of 1.2 actually means 1 degree and 20 seconds? (I always got that wrong somehow) Probably it would be good to make a little note of the aspects that include the ruler of 1st, 7th, 5th and 8th house, as they are so enormously important for relationship matters.
And yes I`ll have a look at Jude and my synastry this way, and also at one with another actor who impressed me much. IP: Logged |

OK lets do your list then I just wanna see if there is a pattern... Shall we list our aspects in order; ie. conjunct's all together etc etc? Makes it easier to see what's going on as the list is gonna be LONG. You think we should just leave out parallels/contraparallels? IP: Logged |

Jeez Lara, yes, the list is LONG, especially with all the parallels / contraparallels.Maybe for now just let`s leave them out, I`m not completely convinced they work on their own anyway. I`m not exactly sure what you want to find out. Do you want to know if there are more asteroid aspects than pure planetary ones? However I`m simply going to post my list in the Jude-synastry (his planets first): 1.the "conventional" ones: Sun conjunct Venus (1) Venus conjunct NN (2) Neptune conjunct Mars (0) Neptune conjunct ASC (0) ASC conjunct Neptune (0) Pluto conjunct MC (0) SN conjunct Saturn (0) ASC conjunct NN (0) ASC conjunct ASC (2) MC conjunct Pluto (0) Vertex conjunct Vertex (2) Jupiter opposite Saturn (0)

Yes DD.I want to see what proportion of asteroid aspects there are to inner pure planet ones. Things like if a couple don't have mercury/mercury aspects but do have mercury/eros or mercury/cupid or mercury/1st ruler Also i'm interested to see the proportion of conjunct to opposition, trine to square.. or whether people gravitate toward a balance. Basically i'm bored of normal astrology and wanna now dissect it more without confusing myself with too many aspects IP: Logged |

Lara, some time ago I made a similiar research. http://www.linda-goodman.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/015090.html "I had the idea this morning, to compare some synastry-chart and to see how many aspects within 2° the planets make, and if asteroids make a comparable amount of aspects like planets. I actually expected a clear picture of Sun and Moon making the most aspects, or at least I expected to get a CLEAR picture.
However, I used the planets, NN, Vertex, ASC, MC, Chiron, Valentine, Amor, Karma, Juno and Eros. Of course I compared only 7 synstry-charts, so the results are probably not that telling. But I was surprised to find out that the amount of aspects made were quite close to each other. There was only a difference of about 2,6. The planet with the least aspects had 4,1 aspect (which was Amor) with the planet with the most aspects (Mercury) had 6,7 aspects. Most made around 6 aspects (Chiron, Sun, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, ASC). There were some things that got my attention:
1. Mercury Why on earth did Mercury have so many aspects? Well, looking a bit more closely I realized, that Mercury was either ASC- or DSC-ruler in 4 of the 7 cases. In those other cases there were lesser aspects to Mercury than for example to Sun, Moon, Venus, Mars or ASC (even though the difference was not THAT huge). HOwever, I then singled out the ASC- and DSC-ruler and looked if those made aspects to the other planets. And this holds true especially for the ASC-ruler. He makes 6,1 aspects (average), which is similiar to the aspects, Chiron (5,9), Sun (6,1), Venus and Mars (each 6), ASC/ DSC (6,4), Juno (6) and Eros (6,6) make. The DSC-ruler makes considerably less aspects - only 4,7. But I noticed something else, which relates to the ASC- and DSC-ruler. 2. There was always, always a conjunction or trine (with opposition coming in third place) to either ASC-ruler or DSC-ruler in both charts. I also noticed that there were many aspects with Eros. Only in one chart I didn`t find an aspect of Eros to ASC-ruler or DSC-ruler. Interestingly the aspect to the rulers are often squares. Also there are two aspects-groups predominant: his ASC-ruler conjunct or square her Eros her DSC- ruler conjunct or square his Eros. Another pattern I noticed was, that the ASC / DSC-ruler had always either an aspect to Vertex, Karma or the Nodes.
3. The Eros-aspects This one surprised me quite a bit. Eros made the most aspects of all other planets and asteroids (6,6) - and furthermore, it was only the two elder couples, who had only 4 aspects to Eros. In the case of the younger couples, Eros made 7 - 9 aspects. Paul and Linda Mc Cartney were caught in between with 6 aspects; I guess they weren`t either really old, or really young.
4. The other asteroid that surprised me was Juno (6 aspects). Thought that was rather high for an asteroid. Interestingly she made the same or a higher amount than Moon-aspects.
Conclusion (for now): Of the asteroids Chiron, Juno and Eros seem the ones that make themselves very known. Valentine and Karma are a bit below average, (5,4 and 5,1), but since I only investigated 7 charts until now, the last word hasn`t been spoken on this matter yet."

Look at how there are so many more conjuncts than any other aspect! Thanks for the link DD Yes, well i'm sort of becoming convinced that we attract people with similar or opposing ELEMENTS to us but that it is not necessary to have sun/moon, sun/venus, venus/mars, venus/pluto, mercury/mercury within orb. I agree with your EROS and JUNO theory... ok, gonna do my aspects now IP: Logged |

Actually I think, rather than just tallying up the aspects, it would make sense to see if there is a correlation between natal aspects and synastry aspects, as people like and need different things.Someone with a Venus-Mars-Pluto conjunction in Leo might need more fireworks than someone with Moon-Saturn-conjunction in Taurus could ever stand. So, if a synastry has strong Venus-Mars and Venus-Pluto or Mars-Pluto-aspects, I think the first person would be insanely drawn to the person he makes such nice firework-aspects with, while the Moon-SAturn-person would probably be scared to the core and even experience a certain disike, as all this firework might be threatening to his or her need for security and a rather calm and warm exchange of feelings. On the conjunctions; well in Jude`s and my synastry chart are a lot of conjunctions; actually more than I have seen in any other chart, perhaps except for the Antonio Banderas - Melanie Griffith and Paul Newman - Joanne Woodward charts (not that I would want to compare our synastry with theirs ).
But it doesn`t mean it HAS to be conjunctions. I like them. The ruler of my 7th house is in my 1st house conjunct Sun - I probably seek a "mirror". Other people maybe can`t stand the mirror-thing, and would dislike someone who is very similiar to them.
For example: my friend, she is seeking a friend and a brother in relationships more than a passionate lover. It`s just nothing she really wants. She wants security, harmony, a home, a true partnership between equals and much communication and she wants long lasting (like for all eternity, or at least for this life), she also wants depth, but not the allconsuming passion.
Well, she has a Cancer ASC, and the ruler of her 7th house is in 3rd house. She seeks someone she can talk with. I only wonder when that Mercury-Venus-Mars-Pluto-conjunction in Libra in 5th house opposing her Aries Moon will break free. lol EDIT: Oh btw I have to slightly disagree with just looking at the elements. If we do that, it all becomes very arbitrary, as there is nothing really unique about that. After all a planet spends a lot of time in the same sign (unless Moon or ASC of course).
But the signs definitely colour the underlying compatibility. But to tranfer that compatibility into a certain attraction, we need tight orbed aspects. But WHAT aspects is exactly the question. IP: Logged |

I see you also share the Moon-Pluto-opposition.Hw do you experience it? Since you are Pluto, does it feel intense, passionate, transformative? ARe you a little bit obsessed with him maybe? Do you want to merge with him completely, on a soul level? Does it feel like magic, like a vortex that is pulling you in and you can`t do anything but succumb? Are you having a strong Pluto natally? Could be Sun-Pluto or Moon-Pluto, ASC-Pluto, Venus-Pluto or Mars-Pluto (aspects, signs or house placements like Mars in 8th house for example). In my case, even though it`s "only" celebrity synastry again, I definitely can feel those Moon-Pluto oppositions. His Moon falls into my 4th house conjunct my IC opposing my pluto. His Pluto falls into my 8th house opposing my Moon (and his Venus there) and my Moon rules my 8th house. My own Pluto rules my 12th house (and 11th house). So these Extra-intense Moon-Pluto aspects involve my hypersensitive water houses. In my case that was expressed through very emotional, partly disturbing, yet enlightening dreams, which mostly deal with issues from the past or rather people from the past. I feel like the pure existence of him (and of course there is no connection) made something inside me dig up some really deep psychological stuff. I know when I realized how familiar he felt, I spent almost a week crying, which is an untypical overemotional reaction (Moon in Aquarius!) to just seeing an actor on TV for me. Not even Jude did evoke that strong emotional responses in me; this guy, well, it just felt like I have been overrun by a shockwave, and am still trying to deal with the aftermath. AS a matter of fact there has not been one single night in the last month, I haven`t dreamed of him. That`s even for me a bit much. lol I know it only has to do with me, with myself. But I`m a bit nonplussed, how someone, whom I don`t even know, never have met and never will, could have such an effect on my subconsciousness or even consciousness. Well, I blame all these Pluto aspects. IP: Logged |

Does he have anything in the 8th house natally? Or ruler of the 1st or 7th house aspecting Pluto? Or ruler of 5th house in 8th house? BTW Pluto in each other`s 8th house - usually that is generational and I wouldn´t consider it UNLESS Pluto aspects personal planets, as is the case with you. THEN it really hits home, doesn`t it?
And Eros in 8th house is a nice little (steamy) Bonus there. I have natally a Saturn-Vertex-Eros-conjunction in 8th house, and to me that 8th house stuff feels really insane. Even if something is "just" aspecting my 8th house ruler Moon, which is pretty unaspected ntally (except for the quinkunx to Saturn in 8th house), it leaves me not knowing where to run and hide. lol

I have jupiter in 7th/ruler of his sun/mercury. We both have vertex in 8th and each others 8th. His 8th ruler MERCURY is trine my moon/venus/saturn/NN in my 3rd - naturally ruled by gemini. My 8th ruler is square his saturn (which conjuncts my AC) and trine his uranus (his AC ruler) and square his AC. These patterns seem to be quite interesting. FINALLY l think i'm getting to understand what you mean by the patterns
