Here's a good site featuring different artists and their chart combinations. Most of them are actors though.

http://art-astrology.blogspot.com/

I'm pasting some of what's in the site here, they are frequent combinations of what comes up in the charts of artists.

quote:
There is a pattern in the charts of artists that I like to show you. Watch the examples and see that combinations of Moon-Venus (sense of art) and Venus-Neptune (artistic capabilities) or Venus-Uranus (the aspiration to be an artist) are frequent in the charts of painters, musicians, singers, composers and movie stars.

................

The astrological pattern in the charts of artists involves the Moon, Venus, Neptune and the signs that they rule (Cancer, Libra, Taurus and Pisces), related to Midheaven.

Mid-point aspects are also listed.
Seems that Venus, Moon, Neptune and Uranus figures strongly.

I would also suggest checking out the charts of artists such as Cezanne, Jackson Pollock(whom I am coincidentally writing an essay about now, although his abstract impressionist pieces might now be everyone's cuppa tea), Chirico and so on.

They are the ones who have inspired movements and followers based on their work.

When you say 'artist', I think it depends what medium you're talking about: writing, visual art, poetry, theater...? I think it would depend on the planet associated with the medium maybe.

quintile and biquintile are said to be the creative aspects, both being 5th harmonics aspects. Those were devised by astronomer/astrologer,Johannes Kepler.

Your Venus quincunx Neptune can be very artistic with the planet of aesthetics in aspect to its high octave.

I have Venus parallel Neptune myself.
My mother has Venus-Uranus in Cancer in 2nd square Neptune in Libra in 5th

I don't have any Venus, Uranus, Neptune, Moon aspects.

I have Mercury,Venus,Jupiter aspects, also a Libra MC and Pisces Moon/Neptune 1st House.I have always loved painting, performing arts, and photography.

Though it's more of a passion now because I decided to persue a medical career like everyone else in my family.x_X

Neptune quintile my sun. I've always felt like writing was my life, and I keep returning to it.

Even if we could all agree on a selection of examples of artistic genii, I doubt there will be one or two standard aspects that will blueprint the gift. Life and astrology does not work that way.

Artistic brilliance to the point of genius ~ no disrespect but my first thoughts are should we look at the charts of the Zolas, the Picassos, the Da Vincis of world history rather than those of LL posters?

Zola, if I recall correctly, and I might not, has a striking chart with a heavy 5th house.

Good point, BM lol. And probably different mediums for different artists too.
I wonder about the MC as well - I think it would reveal something.

Lol @ Lara, ok I was confused. I thought we were discussing the astrological influences of people who have a passion for art but I see were discussing the brillant artists in history in that case, my pick is Shakespeare. He was no painter but I think he deserves to be called brillant artistically.

According to Astrotheme

Taurus Sun 11th/Libra Moon/Cancer Rising/Pisces MC/Gemini Venus/Mercury Aries/Uranus Sag / Saturn in Cancer/Pluto Pisces..

Typical astistic patterns already noted:
He has Uranus in the 5th house
Uranus opposite Neptune
Venus opposite Uranus
Moon trine Venus

Interesting aspects on his MC:
Pluto conjuct MC
Venus square MC
Moon inconjuct MC
Saturn trine MC

X_X..whew..

When I think of artists, Michelangelo is the first one that I think of

Sun in 24'01 Pisces conjunct Mars in 18'44 Pisces in 3rd,and that trines their dispositor retrograde Neptune in 22'25 Scorpio in 11th.

Moon in Pisces in 2nd

Venus in 24'01 Sagittarius oppose Midheaven in 21'14 Libra. Midheaven in Libra aspecting the ruler of the Midheaven is significant. Venus-Midheaven double whammy.

I also checked out ecliptic latitude aspects.
I use no more than 12 minutes of arc.

Mercury in 1'54 South
Neptune in 1'47 North

so he has Mercury contraparallel Neptune in ecliptic latitude with 7 minutes of arc which indicates a mind that thinks in pictures, strong visualization ability...that can be good for the visual arts.

He also has Sun semisextile Venus with 31 minutes of arc. That could figure into expressing himself in an aesthetic way.

His Venus in 16'00 North
His Neptune in 16'41 South
His Uranus in 15'43 South
His Sedna in 15'28 South

So he has Venus contraparallel Neptune with 41 minutes of arc,Uranus with 17 minutes of arc,and Sedna with 31 minutes of arc in declinations.
That indicates an "out of this world",inspirationally, innovatively aesthetic nature which can be very good for art...especially the religious art that he has done. It could indicate potential for artistic genius that can seem out of reach for others to match.

His Venus trine Ascendant with 54 minutes of arc indicates an aesthetic person.

His Sedna trine Midheaven with 2'02 orb indicates otherworldliness in harmony with career, social status, reputation.

His Eris oppose Midheaven with 2'20 orb indicates his career could involve ideological matters, controversy, and being divergent.

This is quite interesting. Looking at the masters is a great idea! I know someone who is so artistically talented, painting. That it is mind blowing. It's as if he has a conduit to the source of pure creativity. He has Neptune conj Sun conj Mercury I've gone back to school for art and what I've read here have in my chart Uranus in 5th house trine Sun and Mercury, Venus conj Moon conj Neptune in the 7th house. My family and friends tell me I'm creative and talented but I don't see it. Also have Mars in Pisces in the 12th.

I checked Leonardo da Vinci's chart

Moon in Pisces in 3rd house
Moon contraparallel Neptune - '01

Moon and Mercury are both said to be involved in mental processing.

Some believe that he was Dyslexic and ADHD.

Venus trine Neptune - 4'32
highly aesthetic

Neptune conjunct Midheaven - 3'01
Neptune contraparallel Midheaven - '03
idealism,imagination,inspiration involved in career,social status,reputation

Mars sesquiquadrate Neptune - 1'14
Mars contraparallel Neptune -'02 in ecliptic latitude
idealistic,imaginative actions....passionate about ideals

Sedna sesquiquadrate Midheaven - '15
career involves the otherworldly,the remote

He was known for being a scientist and envisioned things that would be invented in the future

Uranus contraparallel Ascendant- '00
unconventional,innovative,futuristic person

Venus sextile Uranus - 3'30
Venus parallel Uranus - '09 in Ecliptic latitude

I'm not quite sure how to interpret my own chart....but (not to sound conceited) I've been told I'm an all around artistic/musical genius. I work in the entertainment industry (film/gaming/music) as a jack of all trades. You knowledgeable guys can study my chart if you'd like.....and hopefully tell me some good news? =)

since I don't know how to post one.

Wow, don't know if this is connected but Sun in 12th and everything else in 1st house Libra Asc. Not really but . . . Neptune trine Venus?

I agree with MVM, there's many fields that count as artistic. Actors are probably connected to neptune, anything aesthetic is probably venus, and writers probably have interesting mercury in their chart.

Thanks Carbon,
.....so what does that mean?

Anyways I dont know if a chart indicates these things specifically....but I can tell you guys exactly which areas I'm good at.

I think I'm best at drawing/design....I was scouted by Marvel comics as a teen. I ended up doing concept art for Hollywood feature films & alot of video games (stuff like final fantasy etc). I have natural musical talent too, finished the Royal Conservatory in piano when I was still in elementary school & had the chance to pursue a career as a pianist but I didnt. However I do compose but mostly film score type stuff. These days I'm bored of art for now & want to become a film director instead....so I've recently started pursuing writing (especially after being told randomly by 2 psychics I should write?). Anyways I hope my chart indicates I would be decent at writing...can anyone tell??
