I'm seriously chuffed that we are back on

OK I want people to try this.

It is well known that when newspapers or magazines write up a forecast for a sign it is done through a flat chart or a solar chart. That is when the Sun is set to zero degrees of the particular sign with the ASC also set at zero degrees of the sign as well.

I want people to take their birthdata and set their ascendant to the degree of their Sun. For example my Sun is at 2 deg Aqu but it moves to 1 deg Aqu when I try to adjust it for an ascendant of equivalent sign and degree on the same day. So that means my chart is 1 deg Aqu Sun with 1 deg Aqu ASC.

Look at the new chart. Tell me if you think it is relevant to your life and how.

Thanks in advance!

Interesting. Personally I don't have the slightest clue why astrologers who write horoscopes use the sun sign. It just doesn't apply to people simply because the Asc and its degree (along with the degrees of the rest of the houses) is the only thing that actually impacts a person when it comes to transits. With that said, I don't think a horoscope would be more accurate if you set the degree as the same as your sun sign But I did check it, didn't change a thing in my chart. Except Pluto which moved from my first house to the second. Is this what you meant?

Kismet - well, yes, it's a very broad brushstroke that popstrologers do when writing up horoscopes.

For you, it depends on where your Sun is. I take it is already near the ASC and thus the impact might be minimal. For me, my Sun is in the 10th and when I align it against an Aqu ASC, the positions of the planets completely change with interesting effect. It vaguely explains a few things in my life that might have happened...

Hmmm, I remember reading awhile back that the Asc and the Sun both impact a person when it comes to transits... Something about they are two different but equally powerful energies in the natal chart. Which I think is true when I evaluate the current transits and how they impact my life. But yeah... my Asc is 13 Libra and my Sun is 9 Cancer. This topic is kind of hard to fathom.

OK set your ASC to 9 Cancer. Then look at the positions of the planets, ie look to see what houses they fall in. Can you relate to the new houses for your planets?

There was a famous british astrologer who used to write for the New York Post, and I used to check his weekly or daily astrological column, everything he wrote for my sun sign (virgo) was uncanningly accurate. He passed away in the 90s, and I am trying to remember his name. He was amazing.

Thank God for GOOGLE; His name was PATRICK WALKER.

23, I did it but all my planets remained in the same houses...except for my Pluto, which moved to the second house. I looked up some interpretations for this and I identify more with Pluto in the first house I think.

Kismet - I really don't know, you must have a highly skewed chart with a lot of interceptions, where you born far from the Equator? Try with Equal Houses and see what you get. I was going to suggest doing it with Equal Houses, thanks for reminding me.

Belage - yes, I've often wondered how so much detail is gained from a sun sign, that was until I turned my mind to a flat chart.

Why is Scorpio so secretive vs Why is Aqu so under the radar?

Well in a flat chart, Sco's MC is Leo vs Aqu's in Sco. One has to cover up the obvious loudness of their public image, one is "gifted" in keeping their public appearance under wraps....

That's why maybe Patrick was so good at it, he looked at every house of the flat chart.

23, got cha. I was moving my Asc to 9 Libra. Ha-ha.

Well Jupiter moves to my 11th house; nope I only have a few close friends. Mars conjuncts my MC; don't know about that one. My two stelliums move from the 9th & 3rd to the 6th & 12th; I don't like this chart at all! Ugh I hate this axis.

Yes, well maybe there is no use for it. I really like my flat chart, it's awesome but it does highlight a few things for me. In the flat chart, I have Saturn on the DC, which is probably true, I try to minimise the number of relationships I have with people. I have Venus in the 11th and most of friends are females too. Interestingly my Moon is more conj with Pluto and sits on the MC.

I wanted to see if other people could relate to it or whether some of the more advanced astrologers have something to say about this.

If this worked, wouldn't it just mean that your sun is just as powerful as your Asc and your planets shed light on the solar houses of your sun? I'm guessing this is all it means.

I set my ASC to 7*Capricorn.

Yes, I can relate to the new house positions (Scorp MC with both Venus and Pluto there), stellium in 12th house, etc but I identify much more w/ my original natal chart.

My Asc and Sun are in Water Signs, Pisces and Cancer.

I tried it out and I think it's really quite accurate for me, helps me to discover some sides of myself.
Thanks 23.

This very interesting. My Sun is at 2'Aquarius and remains at 2' Aquarius when i adjust the AC..as my Sun is very close to 3 degrees. I must say that the new house possitions feels "comfortable" mostly especially Venus/Saturn in the 10th House and Moon Pluto in the 8th oh and Sun in the 12th for sure, MC in Sagittarius fits very well as i intend to work abroad was i become a Pharmacist and i simply adore travel

My sun is only 1 degree off my AC so my houses stay the same
Typical though, huh?!

Glad to be back 23!!

Hey Lara Where's Ziggy these days?

No, move your ASC to the degree of your Sun, so your ASC would be something like 6 deg Tau (or whatever your degree of your Sun is).

Then try it with 7 deg Tau ASC and tell me what you see.

Isn't it odd how "Life On Mars" is actually on "Hunky Dory"?

ok

I see everything in my 12th with my sun/mercury conjunct exact my AC. I see mars in 1st which explains my argumentativeness!

I see pluto/uranus in 5th which is interesting as ruler of 5th is now mercury conjunct my AC.
Neptune in 7th - maybe this is why i always attract loser men who hoodwink me cos for all my intelligence and wisdom l can be a complete neanderthal and blind as a bat when it comes to men and their intentions toward me!

PS. it is odd, yes!!! Everything hunky dory with you?

Yes, all the kooks are hunky dory Lara

Well it seems more often than not so far, the charts seem to work for the person...

Kismet, I don't know what it supposed to mean. I suppose for magazines, the flat chart is done because it gives the same sign to the ASC and Aqu and it "intensifies" the quality of the sign for the reading. I thought since these magazines do it, let's not personalise it to our complete and individual charts and see what happens. I guess as you say, it would maybe "increase" the Sun's power to an exalted state (1st house with accidental dignity - on the ASC). What this is supposed to achieve, I don't know.

ps I JUST WANTED TO ADD:

Another experiment:
do the same thing with each planet, I find that each chart gives the "what's going on" for each area of life that those planets represent.

For example use your venus as the new asc, and read it as a chart for your love life/how you love.....etc

I think it works nicely to support the natal.Weird that it does, but it does.

23, thanks so much for the info on Patrick. I wonder, do you know if he wrote any book that I can purchase? I tried to find him any of his writings through google and amazon, but to no avail.

I would love to learn this technique in details. I am not sure it tells a lot of the native's personality, but the predictive aspects of it were dead on accurate if that's what Patrick used. I have to credit Patrick Walker with making me believe that astrology was a serious art/science.
