I think astrology has a lot to do with the psychology of a person and how they've learned to integrate two different placements. It also has to do with our immediate environment and the environment we've been exposed to growing up. That's why the Ascendant is so important. I think you're on to something, though. Astrology is a lot more than just placements and comparing my placements to your placements to their placements to see if we're compatible. I think a lot of people go wrong in this because they use astrology as a means of rationalizing their situation (not that there's anything wrong with that). I just believe that behind the placements, there's a soul that's migrated through many experiences (or lifetimes) that have literally imprinted onto them, making each different than any other on the planet. Astrology is just as much a mystery as every other inconstant thing. The only constant thing here is the fact that everything IS inconstant. But now I'm going off on a tangent.
How we integrate what different placements we have are what make us unique.
I integrate my Libran Sun with my Aries Moon by offering my idea of peace with plenty of enthusiasm. A sort of 'peaceful excitement - everything ends with peace' ideal. If I see that my aggression has offended someone, I'll apologize.
However, someone else may integrate the two by fighting endlessly for the idea of peace. A 'make peace or I'll knock your heads together' ideal.
It's like an art!
