I have a theory folks! When we are younger we attract more NN connections in synastry due to the vital lessons in relationships. Then, as we get through most of theses lessons we begin to attract (or have the opportunity to attract) more SN connections with people. I'm talking oppositions and conjuncts here, obviously What do you all think? I read online that SN connected people are old souls who just wanna be reunited and have an easy gentle relationship. Any takers on this? IP: Logged |

So tell me, Lara, is your SN in Aqua?Do you mean f.e. with a NN in Libra I attract/am attracted to Libras and will eventually start being attracted to Aries? Actually, there may be something to this. I don't find Libras as attractive anymore. Now I'm all about Aries! Getting old, I guess...LOL! IP: Logged |

Hi Yin My SN is in Libra. I just wondered about it cos the SN conjunction with anothers axis or personal planet is so amazing and the NN conjunction with someone's personal planet or axis is so NOT amazing Now you have mentioned it, l no longer attract Arians and l do now attract Librans so i'm such there is something to it. I feel like l can relax and enjoy these SN connections, like an ever-lasting cocktail or something. The NN l have had in the past (almost all my relationships) were such s slog uphill and so painful and wary making. How about you? Do you see any SN connections in your synastries? It makes sense, doesn't it? or am i crazy? I wonder what DD would say? past life maybe? IP: Logged |

Well, it's kind of hard to say since my Moon is also in Libra. I do find it easier to relate to Aries now (once I get over the "in your face and you better like it" attitude they all have)I think I'm in transition right now as far as Arian energy is concerned. They are starting to pop up all around me...hmm. Somebody with a better grasp of astrology will be able to answer that. I'm just relating experiences. IP: Logged |

Hmmmm...let's see if this works for me.1st BF: My NN conjunct his Moon 2nd BF: My NN conjunct his Moon and my Venus conjunct his SN 3rd BF: My SN conjunct his Venus and Jupiter, his SN conjunct my Moon and our NN's conjunct 4th BF: My NN conjunct his Sun and Mercury 5th BF: My NN conjunct his Sun, his NN conjunct my Moon and Jupiter, our NN's opposed 6th BF: My NN conjunct his Sun And Lucky Number 7: My Moon conjunct his SN and our NN's conjunct * And I should mention that since my Moon conjuncts my SN, anyone conjuncting my Moon will automatically conjunct my Nodes* It seems a little bit like a see-saw, but the guy I am with now is the guy I hope to be with for-evah! So yes, in the end if everything continues to go well then I suppose I will end up with a SN connection. It definitely does feel more comfortable than a NN connection, and by comfortable I mean safe and secure - which is exactly what a Cancer gal like me enjoys I have noticed that in synastry of marriages, there tends to be at least one potent South Node connection. Hmm idk I attract a lot of Virgo people in my life and they are all conjunct my SN at 23 Virgo. I'm young, I'm only 21. 3 of the people closest to me (including my ex boyfriend) are Virgo Risings (and my best friend has a Virgo Moon), Aspergers boy has Mars in Virgo (and my Venus is conjunct his NN), and Mars boy whom I have crazy Vertex synastry with has a Virgo Moon. These placements all hit my SN.My boyfriend's Sun is conjunct my NN by 1 degree IP: Logged |

So Amowls, you are in a NN relationship as far as this thread goes, not a SN one.IP: Logged |

Oh I thought you meant ALL relationships not just romantic ones Yes right NOW I'm in a NN relationship, but before him I was dating Aspergers boy and he hit my SN and I hit his NN. Before him was Mars boy (who keeps popping up every time I have a boyfriend--so annoying) who hit my SN. So I'd say it's a good mix.IP: Logged |

Interesting theory Lara, but once again I'm the odd one out. My NN is Virgo, yet I seem to attract Pisces/Neptune people like the plague, which is terrible for me since I live through my NN very well (see the pet peeve thread, #2 on my list). I've done such attracting since I was a teenager. However, I've had many astrologers, aura readers, and other mediums tell me that I'm an old soul, so maybe you are on to something after all! I just have two wishes for relationships: I'd find that "easy" relationship and I'd stop being the Saturn person.

I'm only 20 and I have a SN relationship that was initiated by significant transits. Guess it was our time or something. I've only had one NN relationship but it passed away from my memory rather fast.I can see how your theory could make sense, but maybe not for everyone. I have a Pisces NN though, so perhaps I'm an old soul Oh and SN relationships are not easy in my opinion. They are pure chaos, but I guess it depends on the synastry. However they do bring up deep feelings that are somewhat hard to let go of, not to mention the person. It's very hard getting over a SN connection. I agree with Robert Blaschke when he stated that SN connections usually stay in your life until you die. IP: Logged |

Lara, What a great theory! I can see how that would work One thing you may take a look at is the three fates. and if they make aspect to the nodes. just a theory that works with yours! ( maybe) Example: Klotho in aspect to the NN would be the lessons at beginning of life. I agree with Kismet about the south node being hard to let go of it is safe and comforting However, we are progressing toward our north node it is not ment to be easy. Hence, the phrase "life is never easy" "If life gives you Lemons you make lemonade".

Very interesting theory, Lara. It makes sense -- once you've learned the big (and usually painful) relationship lessons, you stop attracting the people who are going to push you out of your comfort zone, and instead start gravitating to people who have a more supportive, easy role. I can see how that would work. But I also think the comfort of south node vs. north node contacts depends on where the nodal axis falls in the natal chart and whether planets are conjunct either node. For me, my south node is in Libra, in my 12th house -- so anyone whose planets are on my south node is dumping some energy into my 12th house, which I HATE. Sometimes I just want to put caution tape and barbed wire around that whole flippin' house to keep anything from ever entering... My north node, on the other hand, is in Aries and is conjunct my Venus and Jupiter. My descendant is also in Aries. I completely adore people with a lot of Aries energy; I find them inspiring and I dig their fiery passion. As for my own relationship history: when I was younger, I was afraid of embracing my north node energy and tended to fall back on Libra qualities -- probably because I'm a Libra ascendant and it's easy for me to be ultra-polite, wishy washy, and indecisive. My first three boyfriends were Libras. All of them, I felt, held me back in some ways, and after Libra #3 I vowed to never date another. (No offense to the Libras here -- you're still awesome ) As I've matured, I've stepped into a more Aries role, which isn't always easy or comfortable, but I find it SO much more fulfilling. And as this has happened, I've been finding myself with more and more Aries people in my life, though at this point it has usually been platonically. First boyfriend; we weren't together all that long but the relationship was incredibly karmic and significant... riddled with uncanny coincidences and synchronicities. Years have passed since I've talked to him, but I still think about him almost every day. We had: My SN conjunct his sun, Venus, Mercury, and Saturn (all in my 12th house) . His SN exactly conjunct my Neptune. Second boyfriend: my SN conjunct his Mars and moon. Third boyfriend: my SN conjunct his Mercury; his NN conjunct my descendant, Venus, and Jupiter. Fourth boyfriend: his NN conjunct my Mars and Chiron; his SN conjunct my Saturn. Fifth boyfriend: his NN conjunct my Mercury and widely conjunct my sun. I'm currently smitten for an Aries guy where we have: my NN conjunct his sun, Mercury, Venus, and midheaven; his NN conjunct my sun and Mercury. IP: Logged |

And speaking of nodal house placements...My SN is in the 5th house and I have also attracted Leos like crazy...Leos with huge Neptune placements to be exact (including two with Neptune in the 5th!) IP: Logged |

NN and SN confuse me, Because they are like my rising and my descendant Capricorn and Cancer.I like both Cancers and Capricorns but Cancers are so rare to me, their almost like Unicorns instead of Cancers.. IP: Logged |

Jeez I dunno. My ex-husband's Venus conjunct my NN. Most of my close relationships in the past have had a lot of SN contact though. Does that mean I'm moving backwards? Wouldn't surprise me. Not that I even know what the NN contacts feel like. SN I can feel. NN is like....someone pulls over to give me a ride to a destination I've never been and have scribbled onto a piece of paper. "I'm going here, please." I don't know how NN contacts even feel. But I see where you're going with this, and it's an interesting theory regardless. I wonder if something similar can be said about MC/IC contacts. IP: Logged |

For me it was exactly the opposite. I started with one of his planets on my SN, then 3 planets on my SN and lately I'm sorta growing into planets on my NN. Hasn't worked out that nicely yet, but who knows. quote: and person I know (and if I wasn't married = ) - his NN conjunct my Mars

I think both nodes are important.I donīt think that you necessarily FIRST attract NN-aspects, and after that SN contacts, or the other way round. It depends on so many things. Where are those located in your chart for example? I definitely think that both NOdes are important, but have a different tone to them. also, I disagree with those astrologers who state that you will and should outgrow your SN. In some cases that may be right, if you are attached to unhealthy behavioural pattern, but can`t it be a beautiful feeling to have someone in your life who knows you that well and to feel that familiarity?
To be honest I would want to have both. The New with the NN and the Old with the SN. Also, since the nodes are an axis, you could check the aspects of their rulers.
Example: My NN is in Sagittarius, Jupiter is in Pisces in 3rd house. my SN is in Gemini, Mercury is in Sagittarius in 1st house. I often have synastric aspects with Jupiter and Mercury, however those also rule my 1st and 7th house, so who knows what makes the effect? IP: Logged |
